The Friday Five

The Vernal Equinox occurs tomorrow. Though I'm anxious for the warm weather to arrive, five things I don't like about Spring.

1. Here in the Northeast, we don't seem to have many days where you can just wear a light sweater or jacket. Spring tends to be cold and wet. A lot like winter, but without all the snow. We seem to go from cold to hot without interim mild temps. (Though we've had an exception to the weather the past few days. Sunny with temps in the mid 60s. I've been spending the past couple of afternoons in the sun room. (-: )

2. Heavy rains that supersaturate the ground and flood the basement. We lucked out this past weekend and were able to keep up with a bit of seepage. Not many others especially close to Boston were so lucky. Your heart breaks to watch the news. Some people had 5 or 6 ft. of water in their basements. But for the grace of a sump pump go I.

3. Mud season

4. Potholes that swallow your car whole.

5. As the growing things begin to grow, pollen will become a bane of my existence. Even the non-drowsy allergy medications, knock me out.

Are there things about Spring you don't like?

  1. You and Erica have spring on your minds today!! I'm sorry to hear about the flooding. Fortunately, we don't have to deal with that too much in Michigan.

  2. Spring is my favorite time of year, seeing everything come alive again. Yesterday I had yellow crocuses blooming already. If I had to find something to complain about it, it would be the mud, but this year that hasn't been much of an issue.

  3. LOL, did you and Erica plan to wear the same shirt today--er, blog posts :D

Sorry to hear about the flooding! We don't get that here because no one has basements.

  4. Lol, Erica are you wearing a sunny yellow tee shirt today? I am

  5. Tornadoes! I live in Oklahoma.

  6. Sometimes Michigan skips spring. It will go from freezing snow to summer in the snap of a finger. But when we do get spring--oh, it's wonderful!

  7. We really were on the same wavelength today. :)

And no, I'm not wearing yellow. It's cold and yukky here today so I'm wearing a red sweater. :)

  8. Mud... More exactly, muddy paws. :) And this pup hasn't exactly mastered, "paw check" as the old boy knew so well... He automatically stopped at the door and waited for the command... *sigh* missing him. She cowers, thinking she's in trouble.

I'm not a fan of flood alert either. I feel your pain.
