The Secret Ingredient

I've been baking bread again. The store bought bread just goes to waste, but if I bake bread, a loaf is gone in a day or two. I don't mind. I enjoy baking bread. It's a delicious hobby.

I put the warm water, yeast, and sugar in the bowl and waited for the yeast to bloom. (The yeast wakes up and gets all foamy). When I turned back to the bowl, the yeast had decided to add their own secret ingredient.

  1. WOW, I love this. What an incredible find and right before your eyes (and camera), too.

You asked if the bird images I found were from a magazine. No, they were the tiny views of the back of a calendar. Each calendar page is large, but the little views on the back are just the right size. I have found starting with heavier pieces, like those on the outside of a calendar are best for tape transfers, and are the perfect size, too. Thanks for asking.

  2. I keep forgetting to ask. May I please add your blog to my left sidebar. I'll only do it if I have your permission.

  3. In your latest comment, you asked: "I've only done tape transfer with photocopies of a picture and water. Are you using another method?"

I have used magazine images and they work ok. However, I have found the heavier the paper, the better. Expensive slick magazines with the heavy paper work well. Thin ones give me trouble.

I know it's hard to see, because the camera I had before SUCKED, but here is the post I created for my class I taught on my blog that dealt with transfers. Don't laugh at the pop-up, which is further down. It was the first I'd ever made and I had no good instructions when I made it.

Here for my version of tape transfers: http://alteredbooklover.blogspot.com/2012/09/lesson-18-image-transfers-and-pop-up.html
