Art Challenge - Day 2

My calligraphy teacher, mentor, and friend, Callinana, invited me to participate in the Five Day Art Challenge meme on Facebook. Yesterday, was Day 1.

 I thought I'd flourish two birds with one pen so to speak since I cross-post my blog to Facebook. Why waste an opportunity for blog posts? (-;

This piece was done in July 2011 as the title page for a notebook where I scribbled quotes for potential calligraphic fodder.

One of my favorite quotes, supposedly attributed to Michelangelo, Ancora imparo, "I'm still learning." Apropos on many levels. Skills, life lessons.

Acrylic, Ziller Winter White ink, whatever pen point I grabbed first (either Nikko G or Gillotte 1068A)

  1. Nice! Sounds like a fun challenge for you. Happy weekend. Hope this storm going out to sea is south of Worcester-I didn't see the weather this morning, only heard it while upstairs, so I didn't get to see on the map where south was.

    1. It is a fun challenge and helps to break up all the political posts on Facebook.

      From the weather report Friday night, I heard my area was supposed to get anywhere from a coating to an inch. Weather dudes are hemming and hawing. So we won't know for sure until we look out the window on Sunday.

  2. I love the quote and the beauty of the piece. It's a bit dark, but the quote brings the idea into the light. Quite lovely challenge for you.

    1. It's really bad photography. The iridescent gold which brings a lot of light to the piece doesn't really stand out.

  3. Excellent piece! I love the colours and the quote!

    1. The colors look some much better in person. The gold didn't show up well in the photo. And that's my favorite quote.
