How Does Your Garden Grow?

Lantern lights at night.

At the edge of the backyard where the woods are starting to take over, a splash of color from wild blackberries.

Can you see the tiny brown dot in the middle of the blue ring? That's Chocolate sitting very still.

Morning glories growing taller

Petunias provide a needed splash of color to the cowboy boot.

Morning glories and moonflowers grow taller in Ink's garden. Looks like a couple of the plants either didn't take or became a snack for some of the critters.

Heavy downpours Friday and Saturday yielded 2 inches of rain. The humid weather has also brought a new visitor to the garden. A slug is climbing the birdbath.

Petunias in the planters welcome guests.

Dedo, the gargoyle, peeks out from the hydrangeas which are starting to bloom.

A hollyhock grows out of the tangle at the side of the house. My other cat, Mitty, liked to rest under the broad leaves during hot weather.  The hollyhocks will be transplanted now that they have bloomed. This area will be ripped out as the compressor for the mini split air conditioner will be living here. Installation expected late Summer or early Fall. M, the lawn guy, will give me a quote as his equipment and crew will make short work of the tangle.

  2. Wow! Can't believe how dark your yard is at night. Cute idea to have petunias coming out of the cowboy boots.

    1. :-D It's rural here. Streelights are only at intersections on the main road so it's very dark at night. The nearest light to the right of this picture is 1 mile away. To the left closer, at 1/8 of a mile.

  3. Your garden and yard looks far better than mine. I love the bay window. Always wanted one, but since I'm not one to ever close blinds, it probably wouldn't work for me. Love the boot and planters filled with colorful flowers.

    1. It's a bow window. Even though there's a wide sill, you cant sit on it. The beauty of living in a rural area is no need for shades. No one is around to peek in.
