T Stands for Matisse

While at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Nan and I also went to see the Matisse exhibit. Fascinating because besides displaying Matisse's art, the objects he used in his paintings were also on display. Matisse loved the objects (chocolate pots, vases, furniture) he had. Often having them brought to him when he moved around.

I liked the color study

It wasn't enough for him to paint still lifes. Sometimes, he had to sculpt the object he wanted to paint

I found a teacup. At least, I think it's a teacup.

Across from the American Cafe which was too crowded for us to have lunch, is the Lime Green Icicle Tower (42.5 ft x 7 ft or 13 m. x 2.1 m.) by Dale Chihuly, an American glass sculptor.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

    1. The photos don't come anywhere near how magnificent the paintings were. The size and bold colors got lost.

  5. Wow, two more wonderful artists I adore. I certainly learned a lot about Matisse today. So many interesting facts, like the sculpting and taking the objects with him.

Gotta love Dale Chihuly, although this is SO much different than the pieces I'm more used to seeing him make.

Thanks for sharing Matisse and Chihuly with us, and Matisse's lovely cup for T this Tuesday.

  10. It was a fabulous exhibition you went to. The photos are lovely, it is so good that you are allowed to take photographs. Most show here say no to using the camera.
    Happy T Day.

    1. Usually, if the art is on loan, no photographs, but if the art is owned by the museum photographs are allowed. Don't know why an exception was made here, but glad it was.

  16. Yes, that looks like tea cup to me too, CJ ;-) I'm surprised by the breadth of Matisse' styles. I only associated his name with paintings like "Goldfish and Sculpture." Thanks for educating me more.

    Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen
