How Does Your Garden Grow?

While weeding the Zensical garden, I found this. Leaves of 3 let it be. Yup, poison ivy. Sprayed it with soap and vinegar. I will have to be more careful about crawling on my hands and knees to weed this area.

An odd looking mushroom blooms in the lawn. Looks like a bistro table.

A new visitor enjoys the seeds I throw on the ground when I fill the feeder. He's dark brown with some white bar markings on his wings. He might be a Brown Thrush, though his coloring is darker than the bird site I was checking.

Morning Glory vines grow tall.  No buds or flowers. I thought blooms would have been on the vine by now. Oh well, at least it's green.

Heavy downpours this week added up to 2 inches of rain.

The Sunflower is doing well even if something has been chewing on the leaves.

Mitty's Hollyhocks add a splash of color.

The Hydrangea is heavy with blooms. You can barely see Dedo.

How does your garden grow?

  1. Looking nice. Not the poison ivy though We got a lot of rain too and I will say it is keeping everything very green and flowering this summer, even if it did a job on the driveway and road. Love seeing all your blooms. Happy rest of your weekend. Hugs-Erika

    1. The downpours were really severe in your area. Wasn't too bad in my yard. Though Himself told me there was one lightning strike that was close to the house. Made the little animals in the garden scurry and Himself jumped out of his skin.

  2. Your garden is looking gorgeous. Poison ivy is a plant we don't have in Europe (yet), but I had a nasty brush with it when I spent 6 months in the States. Just be careful! That mushroom doesn't look very edible, either. Have a great week and have fun in your garden, hugs, Valerie

    1. Poison ivy is not fun. And the mushroom got mowed with the lawn.

  4. I enjoy looking round your wonderful garden! Glad you saw that poison ivy and now that you know it is there you can stay safe. Your rain measuring ornament looks wonderful, I love that it's both functional and so decorative too 😁. Happy Sunday! J 😊

    1. They were Mitty's favorite. When it was hot outside, he would hang out under the shade of their broad leaves.

  6. So THAT'S what a hollyhock looks like. I am glad you showed yours. I'm loving your garden and you have had about as much rain this week as we had this weekend. It's been brutal here with thunder, lightening, winds, and heavy rain.

You mentioned the landscape mesh. I put that down in my "veggie garden," but it seems to have done nothing to deter the weeds and grass growing from underneath the layers and layers of cardboard I've laid out this year. The weeds and grass sure find a way through, don't they?

I don't think I've ever seen poison ivy before. Guess that's one thing I DON'T have in my yard!

    1. That's what I know as Hollyhock. I'm not sure if it comes in other colors. I only have the dark pink and a light pink. Weather sure has been wild this week. The rain was so heavy in Boston that some of the streets flooded.

Weeds sure are persistent and will grow wherever they want.

You're lucky about not having poison ivy. As a kid, I had a brush with both poison ivy and poison sumac. Not fun.
