How Does Your Garden Grow?

The bunnies haven't been making frequent appearances during the day. Cinnamon braved the misty drizzle to come out for a snack.

The mourning doves are ground feeders. This guy decided he was going to be King of the Birdfeeder.

The King was joined by a Queen. Or vice versa.

By the time Hurricane Jose moved up the coast and reached us, it had diminished to a tropical storm. Most of the effects of high surf, downpours, and heavy winds were felt along the coast. I live a good 50 miles inland. We enjoyed a spectacular sunset.

Winter is coming. This is the time of year, Timex spends portions of his day jammed inside the birdfeeders. He stuffs so many seeds inside his cheeks that his head is bigger than his body. It's a wonder he doesn't get stuck inside the feeder hopper.

The mums Himself bought to replace the Morticia Petunias.

The red maple tree is the first tree to turn color and drop its leaves.

Himself also brought home these planters filled with mum and tall grass. Because the mum planter is top heavy, the wind kept blowing them over.  We used the Morticia petunia planter to brace the mums.

The petunias are making a comeback.

Most of the rain we had was a misty drizzle and not much of that, either.

We did get some gusty winds. Most of the garden kites have flown away.

All that was left of the garden kite I did in memory of Ink, were the kite tails. They will make good nesting material for the birds.

  1. Our garden looks a little bedraggled since Irma...but it's still there. (Timex is adorable!)

  4. Cinnamon looks either bedraggled or sickly. Not sure which, but that bunny didn't look well, at least from your photo.

Your autumn has truly arrived. We are still hot, hot, hot here. If anything is turning it's because it's so dry and hot here, not because autumn has set in. I think yours has definitely arrived, and I like the look of it. I especially liked the sunset photos.

Glad to know you are safe from Jose. I was really worried about all my friends on the east coast. Glad you are inland far enough not to get the swells.

    1. The bunny is fine. My photography leads a lot to be desired. I'm using my iphone, have to increase the picture, and I'm taking pictures through the sunroom window.

  5. The garden is still looking good CJ. We didn't get more than an occasional breeze from Jose, along with that humidity. This weekend was certainly a bonus one for sure. Yesterday we couldn't boat this was still small craft advisories from the remnants of the storm, but today it was smooth sailing so to speak. Hope you had a good weekend too. Hugs-Erika

    1. I'm loving the weather today. I don't mind humidity. It doesn't last more than a day or two, and it doesn't need shoveling.

  6. I love your garden photos CJ! We have had no rain straight now for two weeks and the heat still is crazy!
Have you ever tried to pet Timex? Like how I pet my chipmunks? He is so cute! Love the King and Queen too! LOL! Great mums! We've lost a lot of our leaves on our trees already! Love the sunset pictures!
