The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. Out to breakfast at IHOP and then read Written in My Own Heart's Blood while Himself worked out with QiGong buddy.

2. The Eldest bought a bottle of mead to ring in the New Year..

3.  Breakfast at a Friendly’s where we haven’t been in months. The waitress remembered us, our table, and beverage order.

4. Saw Star Wars on old people’s day and went out to dinner. (Reduced ticket price and 20% off meal)

5. We switched Internet providers. Verizon sent their tech in the middle of a blizzard to get us up and running!

How was your week?

  1. Sounds like a good week except for the cold! No special deals like that for the elderly here :( Here it's still wet and mild, and the Rhine is filling up more and more....Some people might be getting wet feet. Have a great weekend, hugs, Valerie

  2. What a wonderful way to start the year! IHOP and Friendly's are always a good choice - yum 😁. I love mead especially when it is heated; when we visit Prague they have mead stalls on every corner at Christmastime and I always have to stop and have one, well it would be rude not to ...lol 😉. We've had a busy week of family, friends, appointments and taking all our festive decorations down; the rooms seem huge with them gone ...lol 😉. Wishing you a Happy Friday and Weekend! J 😊

    1. Yes, it would be rude not to stop and have a glass of mead. I had mine heated and it came with a spice pack. It was nice, but not as sweet as I imagined it would taste.

  3. Did you like Star Wars? I went to see it over my actual vacation and enjoyed it, but it took me a little bit to get into it for some reason. You sound like you had a good week though and a good start to the New Year. How much snow did you get yesterday? The wind is whipping like a banshee today and I believe for you also. Stay warm my friend. Hugs-Erika

    1. Hard to say with the snow. At 3 PM while the storm was still rolling, we went out to do the first pass for shoveling, we had a good foot. The wind was fierce so we had lots of blowing and drifting. I measured nearly 2 ft in places today. Wind is still howling like a bansidhe.

  4. I loved the Old People's Day. It made me smile. What in the world is mead? I've heard of it, but nothing good (grin).

Wow, I couldn't get AT&T to come out and fix my phone and internet for SIX days last summer. I can't imagine how long it would take them to do so in a blizzard. You must be special (grin).

It's freezing here, but no moisture, still. Stay warm and safe.

    1. Mead is a wine made from fermented honey. Can be served hot or cold and sometimes spiced with cinnamon, cloves, and orange peel.

I'll gladly send some of the snow your way. We have more than enough. =^,.^=

    2. Oh, and mead was popular beverage during the Middle Ages.

  5. As a former Verizon employee I don't know whether to be upset that management sent someone out in a blizzard to connect you or proud that 'we' give (gave) such good service..... :-/

    1. We were stunned. Thought for sure Verizon would reschedule. I had mentioned to the tech that the Governor had requested non-essential personnel to stay home. He said the telephone company was considered an essential service in case of emergency communication was necessary. He said the techs had a motto that they were more reliable than the post office. He said that with pride. Hope he made it home ok.

  6. Did you love Star Wars? What is the reduced price day at the movies there? They have economy day on Tuesdays around here.
