The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. Howling winds on Saturday, and we didn't lose electricity or heat. Gottseidank.

2. Then on a day not as cold, heat in the basement, and hot water, but no heat on the main floor. Thank God for having the mini-splits to keep the house toasty warm.

3.The heating guy thought return pipes in the garage were frozen. Temps got a little warmer. Tuesday morning, I tried the main heating system and things kicked in. So relieved we didn't have to worry while we were in Pennsylvania

4. The Eldest will be moving to Pennsylvania, she found a nice, safe, affordable apartment. And maybe will be able to score some furniture and a washer/dryer as there's a hook-up in the apartment. Thanks to the awesome help of Vicky May-Hosick from Howard Hanna.

5. Ice storm predicted for today, so we cut our Pennsylvania trip plans short to get out of Dodge after The Eldest signed her lease.

How was your week?

    1. It feels like she's moving to the other side of the world. 9 hrs and longer if there are stops. We just went down to see if we could find housing. Not much available in Winter so she was lucky. Move in day will be in 2 weeks as she starts her new job on 1/29

Yup, we drove through some heavy rain and fog this morning. Got home around lunch time. Not looking forward to ice tomorrow. Warm temps felt so good!

  3. My week was about like yours. Pipes froze, but thawed. Heat doesn't warm my house, and we finally got snow that turned to ice and lots of accidents on Thursday. So glad you had a much better end to your week, at least. Sounds like Mom is going to miss the eldest.

    1. Frozen pipes such a worry at this time of year. Hope your are safe and warm. The Eldest and I have done a lot of new and firsts together. First times are always a little scary (at least for me). Yes, she will be missed.

    1. ice storm hasn't happened yet. Temps are warm and it's been raining and raining and all the snow has melted. the sump pump decided to take a coffee break and the basement started to flood. Could use the freeze right about now if it wouldn't make driving so hazard
