How Does Your Garden Grow?

I was in Pennsylvania for ten days. We had a couple of days of snowy weather in Pennsylvania, and I had hoped to come home to warmer temperatures and no snow.

But the weather was still cold, and Himself told me we had some icy mix the night before my arrival on Ground Hog's Day. While in Pennsylvania, I saw on my town's Facebook page, school had a two hour delay. I don't know if there was plowable snow, but the mailbox was still standing.

Ground Hog's Day. If CJ sees snow on the ground will she whine? DUH!

What weird, alien print is this? Is it a Martian print? Like the Martian Sylvia encounters in War of the Worlds? (1953)

Nope, it's just Himself with his Kwai Chang Cane. Whew!

Inside Himself has an Aerogarden. When I left, the salad greens were little sprigs. They are now big enough to snip and eat.

A bird was hanging out in the feeder hatch, but by the time I got out to the sunroom  to take a picture he was gone. Don't blame him as the temperature was a degree above BRRRRR

The Zensical Garden is a frozen tundra.

How does your garden grow?

  1. Sorry you were not welcomed home by sunshine and flowers, but at least the Martians were there, cool. We had snow and I enjoyed seeing my marigolds with a crown of snow! Hugs, Valerie

    1. Me, too, and I suppose on the bright side, I wasn't greeted with a blizzard.

  2. Obviously my garden is drier and browner than yours. I can only wish for a bit of moisture, but all I seem to get is bitter cold. Today's high is supposed to be 22F and that's before wind chills. At least I'm not in Minneapolis waiting to get into the warmth of their new domed stadium.

I simply adore the view from the front of your house. I would have to shovel or the mail person wouldn't be allowed to deliver my mail. One of the disadvantages of having my mailbox located on my porch.

    1. The front walk is usually shoveled, but I was away and Himself has been having back issues and difficulty walking. I need to get out this afternoon and chip ice so we won't slip and break our necks.

  3. BTW, do you have to buy replacement packs for your Aerogarden, or can you get seeds from your local seed store?

    1. Yes, and yes. You can buy the replacement packs from them. You can buy a seed pod kit and you can use your own seeds. Either to start plants and then transplant them or just let them grow in the Aerogarden. The use your own seed pod kit can't really be used again. The kit comes with a rolled peat mixture. Looks like a cigar and fits inside a plastic holder shaped like a cone. You plant your seed in the peat mixture. The plastic holder can be reused, but you can't reuse the peat cigar once the plants are spent. If you could figure out a way to dry the peat into the cigar shape you might be able to make your own soil mixture. The peat cigar needs to fit and hold its shape in the plastic cone. Just easier to buy another kit.

  5. no gardening happening here-we even got a little snow today. I love your little mini garden, we do not have any good south facing windows for growing indoors. a little salad or herbs would be really nice during the winter.
that was funny about your the can print
    Happy Sunday Kathy

    2. The aerogarden has its own grow lights. No south facing window needed. And thanks for clarifying the cane print. I was like What? :-D

  6. I think an aerogarden and snipping lettuce sounds fantastic. Especially in the middle of this cold and icky winter. Are you watching the game? Maybe today's rain will wash some snow away and for once I wouldn't mind a tad bit of ice so there would be a 2 hour morning delay. But probably not. As long as we get a win so everyone is sullen and sad tomorrow. Happy new week. Hugs-Erika

    1. No, these championship games get me too worked up. I watched a movie: Playing for Time with Vanessa Redgrave. Just heard the news. Looks like your wish didn't come true. Better luck next year

    1. Your lucky it doesn't snow where you are. It looks pretty, but it's nasty and sometimes dangerous to drive in.
