T Stands For Lunch and Errands

On Friday, we had to go shopping to buy food and other items The Eldest needed. She decided she would take me to lunch at Perkins Restaurant which was near Wal-mart.

We each started with iced tea with lemon, and looked over the menu trying to decide what to have. The restaurant is also a bakery and the pies are delicious. Fortunately, the restaurant had a pick 3 or 4 option. Pick a soup or salad, a lunch or dinner, and a slice of pie. Perfect.

It was cold in Pennsylvania so a bowl of soup was a welcome option. We both had the Chicken and Wild Rice soup.

We both chose Napa Chicken Salad Sandwich in a just big enough finger roll.

Then the best part. Pie. On the first trip to Pennsylvania, I had the Coconut Cream pie. So many pie options. I decided to go classic with Apple Pie. The Eldest had a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Pie.

After lunch, we went to the nearby Walmart so the Eldest could get a microwave, card table and chairs, other needed household items and

food.

A friend had told me of a friend of hers that when she decided or the kids decided it was time to fly the nest, she gave them a toaster oven as a Christmas gift. I made The Eldest buy her own toaster oven because that's the kind of mother I am. 😸

Back at her apartment, she prepared a delicious dinner of pork chops, Rice-A Roni, salad, and a blend of broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. Himself pretty much only eats green beans, carrots, and wax beans which the Eldest says look like sick green beans, so we both found the veggie mix a delightful change of pace from Himself's usual. I had my leftover Coke from the pizza dinner, and The Eldest had some water in the cute, blue mug from her Corelle Cottage Country set.

After dinner, we watched another episode of Doctor Who. Stay tuned next week, same time, same blog for the final episode of my Pennsylvania saga.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

  3. The food all looks so delicious I am hungry now this morning haha
I think it is ok that Eldest bought her own toaster oven as you have done so much for her already-helping her to get settled in-hugs
    Happy T Day Kathy

    1. That was my thought, too, about making her buy her own toaster oven.

  4. A toaster oven AND a microwave. She will be able to cook just about anything she wants, now.

I think I told you about our Perkins. It went downhill after it moved to a new location and was taken over by new management. Even their pies weren't as good. At least you got a nice lunch at the one in PA.

Thanks for sharing your tea and your coke, as well as your trip to Perkins and Walmart for food with us for T this Tuesday. BTW, those chocolate donuts are making me hungry!

    1. She likes to cook so is having fun preparing her meals. Too bad about the Perkins in your area. And those donuts are from Krispy Krap.

  7. Perkins looks like such a great place to eat and that yummy pie caught my eye - you can't beat a classic American apple pie ... unless it's yummy blueberry pie that I have when I visit Maine ...lol 😉. I'll have to give Perkins a try sometime on my travels. Wow, that's a lot of shopping, did all that food fit into the car too ...lol 😉. Wishing you a Happy T Day! J 😊

    1. Perkins has blueberry pie. With visits to Pennsylvania, I might be able to eat my way through the pie menu :-D

  8. I LOVE Perkins. Unfortunately, they are hard to find in the South.

  9. I enjoyed reading about your and Eldest's Pensylvania adventure. A microwave and an oven. She'll be able to take on anything in the kitchen now.
Your car was super full with all the things your bought.
The food at that restaurant looks yummy. Especially the pies. In England it would be served with warm custard, or ice cream according to the seasom. And if you are my hubby, he'll want custard AND ice cream!
    Happy T-Day,
    Lisca

    1. I was surprised the pie wasn't served with whipped cream or ice cream. Maybe it was extra and you had to ask.

  13. It looks a great restaurant to have your meal in and the food you chose looked delicious..
Sounds like all is going well and your eldest is getting her home filled with all the necessary gadgets etc.
When my boys each left home many years ago now, I bought them an ironing board and an iron, we laugh about it still.
Happy T day wishes Yvonne xx

  14. Looks like a yummy meal! Soup and pie sound very comforting right now. Loved hearing more about the PA saga. I did notice that your 'necessities' included Krispy Kreme. Love those! And I love how you made your Eldest buy her own toaster oven. It all comes with moving out and being responsible. You go Mom!
Looking forward to the next episode.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

    1. There isn't a Krispy Kreme where I live in Massachusetts. I've heard people rave about them so when we saw them we had to have them. Have to say we gave the Krispy Kremes a resounding two thumbs down.

  15. That looks like a great place for lunch. I would go back because it looks delicious. :) And did I see those Krispy Kreme donuts you wrote about in the cart at Walmart? Now that the superbowl is over I can call them Boston Creams. :) Hee-hee. Hope it was a happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  16. All this food talk is making me hungry! I am fasting for blood tests tomorrow. Your Adventure of Eldest moving out brings back memories! Our eldest moved only a block away the first time. I think we even walked some stuff over. He moved in with a friend and I had to laugh when he complained the friend wouldn’t even wipe crumbs off cabinet after mailing a sandwich! Like when did eldest start worrying about crumbs on the cabinet? BTW, I like both kinds pies you and eldest had! Umm, good! Happy T-Day!

  18. Food, food, glorious food .. everything sounds delicious. My hubby doesn't like vegetables at all and will only tolerate corn and peas. I crave variety. What is it with guys and vegetables?

I think driving from MA to far western PA to help your daughter get set up beats a toaster oven from Christmas any day!

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

  19. Your meals look delicious! Great that you went shopping together! Pleased you could have a change of vegetables - we eat most veg, although I don't enjoy kale and hubby is not a fan of green beans!
Belated Happy T Day - things became busier than I expected yesterday! Chrisx
