The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. Plans to go out to dinner and shopping changed when heavy rains and thunderstorms were predicted. Himself stopped at Harry's on the way home and brought fried clams (me), scallops (Himself), and he thoughtfully got me a raspberry lime rickey

2. The Rose Breasted Grosbeak returned to the feeder.

3. The hummingbird came around to check out the honeysuckle vine, but he was too fast to grab a picture. This one from Pexels.com

4. Tuesday was date day.

5. Himself did the food shopping and brought me a chocolate muffin.

How was your week?

  1. I haven't seen the rose breasted grosbeak yet. Lucky you. :) Sounds like a great week. I like the sounds of the hubby bringing you home dinner. I think mine needs to do that since it's been a while, a long while. Happy Friday. Hugs-Erika

    1. We had spotted a brown bird, size of a robin and looked like a small hawk. Had no idea what kind of bird. The the male grosbeak showed up and we realized the brown bird was the female. She comes to the feeder more than he does. Maybe shes eating for a clutch. Enjoy your day!

  2. Your week sounds good. The grosbeak is a bird I've never heard of, I'll look it up afterwards. Chocolate muffins and great food? Yummy! Enjoy your weekend!

    1. The male is black and white with a bright red spot on his breast. He also has white bars on his wings. The female is brown and has the white bars on her wings, too.

  3. Sounds like a pretty good week to me! What is a raspberry lime rickey anyway? It sounds interesting enough. ;)

    1. Raspberry Lime Rickey is a refreshing Summer beverage. Over ice: club soda, lime juice, raspberry syrup and garnished with lime. You can add gin or vodka to make a grown up version, too.

  4. I've never heard of a grosbeak before, but I HAVE heard of a hummingbird. In fact I used to have a hummingbird feeder, but they don't seem to visit Kansas. Personally, I can see why.

Kudos for using Pexels. They are my "go to" site for images now that you turned me onto their site.

Sounds like a fun week, overall. Glad you have date days, too.

  5. Most weeks are good weeks. Even when they go pear there is always something good about the week. I used to use Morguefile to find copyright-free images, but Pexels is so much better.

  6. Sounds like it was a stellar week! (Anytime a husband steps up and brings home dinner is a good week!) ;)

  7. We don't get the grossbeak on our patio -well, except for that one exciting day. He never returned.

Flexibility is important in planning. That weather sounds like a good reason to have a cozy night in :)

    1. Now, I'm curious. What happened that one exciting day the grosbeak came to the patio?

    2. Oh, just seeing that bird was an excitement! We got the bird book, identified the bird, and were transfixed by the bird, never having seen one before. Then we watched in vain for it to return :( So strange to have it come and then never return. That was in May last year, so I keep looking to see if it'll come back through this year. Hope springs eternal :)

  8. Wonderful week! It sounds like you've been looked after very well this week with the raspberry lime rickey and chocolate muffin treats - yum ...lol 😉. How lovely to see all those birds in your garden too. Happy Friday and weekend! J 😊 x

    1. The Raspberry Lime Rickey is very refreshing. Red had several hummingbirds at her hummingbird feeder the other day. I've only seen one coming to check out the honeysuckle vine. The hummers love it, but it hasn't bloomed yet.
