How Does Your Garden Grow?

Kitty can't believe it's so warm late in the afternoon, and it was just a tease

Ice coated trees loom out of the fog.

Because of high winds and the threat of ice, the garden flag got moved into the front porch

Cold hands

Warm hearts

High winds didn't stop the chickadee from grabbing a perch on the sunflower stalk

before he decided to have a snack

A quarter to five in the afternoon and the sun isn't that low on the horizon.

How does your garden grow?

  1. Great series of photos. Wow, from 60 down to 25: that's a big drop. (Earlier this week we had unseasonably warm of about 55, which was great but a tease here. This weekend the wind chill is now making it feel like 10 to 20. Ugh.) I hope you didn't have a branches come down due to the ice. We're supposed to get some type of snow / rain / freezing rain storm on Tuesday into Wednesday. Freezing rain is the worst, but your fog photo looked great with the frozen branches.

    1. Fortunately, the ice wasn't that thick to bring down branches or power lines. We're in for that same messy mix. Ugh! Stay warm!

  3. Nice photos! We also had unusually warmer and calmer weather here for the past couple of days or so. CAN'T WAIT FOR SPRING TO GET HERE!

    Have a great Sunday!

  4. It sure was a wacky week of weather. And now this week is promising to be another view of old man winter. Ugh! But I guess it was too much to ask to have 60 degree weather again. Hope it's a good weekend for you CJ. Hugs-Erika

  5. Beautiful photos. It never got above freezing all week. Overnight temps were in the negative F numbers. Looks like your ice and my ice were about the same. I was telling Chrissie earlier that the only reason my chairs on the back patio weren't blown into the next state was because they were stuck to the concrete by a sheet of ice.

BTW, I sent Scott the info on the basement moisture control device and he wrote back: "I really like it. Does a number of useful functions that would help your basement situation, and only draws 34 watts."

When I suggested we get one for my always damp basement, he wrote back: "They don't seem to sell them online. Might have to go through a local dealer or something."

Did you go through a local dealer to get yours?

    1. No, we didn't go through a local dealer. We filled out the email form on the website. Got a we got your email request email and then a call from Sales. If you don't want to email their phone is 800-293-9577 They are located in Oceanside, NY.

The owner of the mold removal company was here when the unit arrived. He said it was a good device.

They will also send the name of a local installer.

  7. We went from a high in the 70s to a new cold front in a day, but it's still not nearly as cold as it is where you are. We're getting rain. I've seen chickadees here but not in years :( I miss them. They are such cuties!

  9. Loved seeing photos about your place and my favorite photo is that tree with ice on the branches...so beautiful! U look like you have a big property. i use to and miss mine so much . And your temperature to me is ...making,...m.e.....a little envious. Snowing again today - this is the snowiest February we have had in the mountains since we moved here six years ago- usually our area at 5000 feet doesn't really get that much.

    1. The property is slightly larger than 1 acre. About half is wooded. The temp. was a fluke. Another snow/sleet/rain event on the way for Tuesday. We haven't had much snow this Winter, and I've been happy with that.

    2. we've had more this winter and i just read a local said this is the beginning of what winter should be like and what we had over the last six years was not a typical winter and very slight. I think I need to move, lol

    1. That ice coating isn't even a proper ice storm. We've had over 1/2 inch accretions which bring down trees and power lines. Thankfully, that didn't happen during this storm.
