The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. The female cardinal was in the honeysuckle bush looking in the sunroom and kitchen windows to make sure Dad's birthday preparations were going on.

2. 100th birthday party for Dad

3. The male cardinal perched in the honeysuckle vine. Dad thanking me for his 100th birthday party

4. The Vernal Equinox and the cardinals visited the honeysuckle vine. I think they are looking it over as a potential nesting site.

5. A student brought in an individual apple pie for everyone in class. It would have been her daughter's 21st birthday. Her daughter didn't like cake, but loved apple pie so the pies were a way to honor the memory of her daughter.

How was your week?

  1. How sad for the woman whose daughter would have been 21, but what a great way to observe her memory. And it fit well with celebrating your father's 100th, too.

Looks like the rest of the week was for the birds (grin)!

  2. What a memorable week you had. It was so nice of your student to include everyone in class as she did to honor her daughter's memory. Very thoughtful.

    Have a great weekend!

  3. Sounds like a good week. That was a great idea with the apple pies in memory of her daughter. My week was busy and sometimes frustrating. Have a great weekend, Valerie

  4. That's a good week in my book, and what a wonderful way to honor a daughter. I remember there used to be a store in downtown worcester called called Ware Pratt (or something like that) which used to give free apple pies on your birthday. They carried mens, women and boys clothes. No girls. So my brother would get a pie and not me because my mo couldn't resist the free pie. Happy weekend. Hope you are etting all rain.

    1. All rain here and in the basement. Lechemere Sales used to give a free cherry pie on Washington's Birthday. That was always a treat to go into Boston to get a free pie. Cherry is my favorite.

The apple pies were such a sweet and thoughtful remembrance.

    1. Since the honeysuckle vine is next to the sun room, I think the cardinals would find it too busy a place as that's where we hang out when the weather gets better. It would be very cool to be so close to them as they raise their chicks

    1. It would be fun for us to have the cardinals nest in the honeysuckle vine, but I think with us going in and out of the sun room, watching tv, it might be too noisy and scary for the birds.
