Doodling for Stress Reduction
To celebrate Cinco De Mayo, we filled a shape with doodles and added color if desired. My doodle is based on the Mexican folk art, Alebrijes. The Alebrijes are usually mythical animals. What is more mythical than a cat?
How cool is that cat?!! Just love it CJ.. I have done something similar... I tried and tried to draw a cat, just didn't look right... then i layed the ears back a little and bam! that was it... must have been a Jinx influence at the time...lol I'll post the pic sometime because i'd love to paint it.. Hugs! deb
That’s a fun and creative take, π Alebrijes are indeed vibrant, fantastical creatures often made by combining features of different animals—and while cats are real, they definitely act mythical sometimes! Mysterious, elegant, aloof, and sometimes acting like they know ancient secrets… a cat as an Alebrije makes total sense!
Did you actually draw or color a cat-inspired Alebrije? I’d love to hear more about the design—what kind of features did your mythical cat have? Wings? Horns? Neon stripes?
The above is a design I drew during a 1/2 online, doodling for stress class I take every week. No horns, or wings. Cats are mystical just as they are. I know as I've been owned by 5 of them.
Very beautiful!!! Saw our Stray the other day. He is black and always looks so friendly, sometimes lays down for a cuddle. But, alas, a dude with a dog came and the Beauty left... Nice to see yours and now I crave a taco!
Nice cat!

ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Lovely doodles and a colorful cat. Doodles don't relieve my stress, though.
