Thursday last, at my weekly visit with Teague, we decided to go out for lunch. Since it wasn't raining and it was perfect weather (for me, with temps close to 90), we decided to go to George's Surf and Turf. We've been there before.
Normally, I would have ordered fried clams, but at 90 degrees and humidity, it wasn't the best weather for fried food. This weather called for ice cream. I only eat ice cream when temps. are over 70. However, ice cream weather posed a problem for me. If I ordered a burger and fries (2nd choice), I'd be too full to have ice cream. What to do? What to do? I pulled a page out of Erika from Bio-Art Gal's book and just ordered a Hot Fudge Sundae with cookie dough ice cream. The server asked if I wanted whipped cream and a cherry. Yes, please, and also if I wanted colored or chocolate sprinkles. I tsked. I would like jimmies, please. In New England, especially in the Boston area, we don't call chocolate sprinkles, chocolate sprinkles. They are called jimmies.
While Teague was waiting for her burger, I found us a table and began eating my sundae as it was melting fast. The sundae was soooo good, and as I suspected no room for a proper lunch. I didn't quite finish the sundae.
Relaxing back at Teague's sunroom, I had some iced tea. Teague did ask me mid-afternoon if I was hungry. She would take me to Dairy Queen which isn't too far from her house. to get a burger or something. I was still full from sundae.
I just noticed the date for today, June 10. Today marks 52 years since Teague and I graduated high school.

Happy graduation anniversary (is that a thing?)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great excuse to celebrate
DeleteYou remember the DATE you graduated on? I'm lucky I remember I graduated!
ReplyDeleteIt's a savant thing 🤣
DeleteI’m entirely in favor of having a sundae for lunch. Looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteIt was so good
DeleteWhat a sweet story!!!! Thank you for the BIG smile. Happy T-Day.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome
Deletethat sounds perfect to me, good lunch choice! Congrats on your graduation anniversary too! and I love your strawberry background. I have them in the garden but they're not ripe yet (too much rain!) Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteMany eons ago, I had a strawberry patch. When it started producing the chipmunks took a bit from the back of each berry. The front of the berry looked perfect until picked. I tore the patch out.
Deleteno chipmunks but something else always tries to eat them before we get to them!
DeleteOh my gosh, you and Teague have been life long buddies. What a blessing. And I strongly concur with sundaes for lunch:)

It was perfect
DeleteI'm with Robin. I remember the year I graduated, but not the date. I'm sure it was late May, though because we in KS need the farm kids on the farm in June.
ReplyDeleteYour sundae looks great. I can't believe you couldn't eat it all. I would have it down in a heartbeat. Thanks also for sharing your tea with us for T this Tuesday, dear CJ.
We wait for mid-June to get out of school because we have to make up snow days
DeleteFried clams or ice cream - that is a tough choice. I'm afraid I would have chosen the clams (I love them, more than ice cream actually). Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteWhen the temperature is 90 oF (32.22 oC) and the humidity is above 70%, fried food is not a good choice. 🤢But ice cream is perfect
DeleteNow that's a really good lunch. And did you get sprinkles? The hubby and I had ice cream Sunday night for supper since we had a pretty big lunch, and there were some people talking about sprinkles versus jimmies while we were waiting to get our ice cream. Then they talked about milk shakes and frappes. They were not from New England, I could tell by their conversation. And Congrats on the graduation anniversary. Time goes away too fast, doesn't it? Enjoy the beautiful weather tomorrow. And HOpe it was a super T day.
ReplyDeleteI got jimmies. Yup, I'm looking forward to the weather the next two days.
DeleteGoodness your high temperatures do make ice cream a good choice :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
