A few weeks ago, I was able to go visit my friend, Teague. Between her working more hours and the pandemic, I hadn't seen her in over a year. Teague is the friend I usually go Grave Siting with, and we were thinking of doing that, but the weather was predicted to be stormy in the afternoon. We decided to hang out in Teague's sun room and just catch up.
Teague had some errands to run and then we stopped for lunch at
Fifty years ago, the Surf and Turf restaurant was located on Rte. 9 in Framingham. It was the fancy restaurant used for special occasions where my family occasionally went out to eat. Dad didn't really like eating out at restaurants as he only liked to eat Ma's cooking.
The restaurant moved from Framingham to a hamburger/fish shack in the tiny town of Mendon.
Decorated surfboards make an interesting mural.
Rhododendrons and colorful Adirondack chairs provide a nice spot to picnic. Teague and I ate our lunch to the left of this spot at picnic tables under a wooden awning. The restaurant is a popular place.
Cowabunga!
It was a perfect day for whole belly fried clams. Oops! I forgot to take a picture of my beverage. I had a Lime Rickey.
You stand in line to place your order, and to pay. Cash only! You're also given a number and when your order is ready you go to the pick up window.
A fun mural to look at while you wait for your food.
Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.
Cowabunga!!! What a great word!!!! And a great mural! And the cow-mural, how cute!!
ReplyDeleteReally? Here they don´t want cash no more ("Corinna" - even if you buy one loaf of bread they prefer credit card.)
A pot of gold!
A happy T-Day to you :-)
My state has opened up fully. This business is a small, seasonal business. They are only open from May through Sept. so fees for them to be able to take credit/debit cards would be high. That's why cash only.
DeleteI love these 'hole in the wall' places. They usually have the best food! :D
ReplyDeleteIndeed
DeleteThat looks like a fun place to go. I love the murals. Funny, my dad hated eating out also. It must be a generational thing. You whole belly clams look to die for. That would make the trip right there, but getting to see a friend, finally, must be fantastic. I have a couple of friends I have yet to see since this pandemic began. I mostly see my work related friends, but no complaints about that. Have a wonderful T day. We're humid and drizzly here. How about you? Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteIt was good to get out and catch up. Almost like being normal again. Weather is humid and just turned cloudy. Thunderstorms predicted for this afternoon and evening
DeleteI was incredibly impressed with the charming murals. Not so much the fried clams. I am sure you enjoyed them, though. Thanks for taking us m your outing to Surf and Turf with the lovely murals and meal for T this Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised about the murals. I’ve driven by this restaurant thousands of times and just never noticed
DeleteSounds like a wondrous time. Love the surfboards, hydrangea and Adirondack chairs:)
ReplyDeleteHope your day is filled with gorgeous flowers, bunnies and birds.
I scared the poor bunny yesterday morning. I made too much noise in the sun room
DeleteThe murals, the food, and the atmosphere make this look like a very fun place to have lunch. Probably more fun than when it was the fine-dining center. I enjoyed your post.

I have fond memories of the restaurant. As a kid, you could watch the lobsters in the tank and pick one out for your dinner!
DeleteLove finding such good food at simple, no fuss places like these. Love the painted surf boards. Nice to have been able to spend time with your friend again in a lovely outdoor space. happy T day!

I suppose they are a bit like mussels only a little bigger.
DeleteLove seeing the fun things people are eating out as things are opening back up. Those old restaurants are usually the best too as they have perfected their menu and are not chasing trends. Love the murals and surf boards too. Happy T-day a bit late, CJ!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to get back to a normal activity for us
