I had been advised to think about having genetic testing done because of the history of breast cancer in the family and other forms of cancer. I gave information as best I could from fragments of things I remembered about aunts and uncles. I messaged my cousin to talk about his mother (my mother's sister), his sister (they both succumbed to breast cancer) I also found out his daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer the year before!
From the bits and piece of this information, a family tree was constructed.
The things you don't know... Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteAnd don't want to learn
DeleteFamily medical histories....oh so much fun! NOT! 🙁
ReplyDeleteEspecially when patterns begin to emerge
Deletehaving family medical knowledge is helpful…I guess stuff like stroke and heart attack can somewhat be avoided in the next generation if they …pay attention..to what went on before
ReplyDeleteYes, because some things like diabetes can be prevented if, as you say, they pay attention.
DeleteYou need to know what else they did. Both my parents died of cancer.
ReplyDeleteBut... but both were heavy, heavy smokers and drinking, oh, yes, that, too.
I might be lucky... Might...
Yes, I told gave that information to the interviewer too. My aunts and uncles were heavy smokers. Dad smoked too, but gave it up when I was a teen. Ma never smoked.
DeleteI think having family medical knowledge can be very helpful.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Yes, patterns begin to show up
DeleteI hope you didn't/don't have genetic breast cancer. But knowing about the family history must be really helpful. I hope when you got tested it came back negative for those genes.
ReplyDeleteWaiting for the test results was a worry
DeleteKnowing your family history when it comes to medical information may help save your life and the lives of your daughters.
ReplyDeleteThe reason for having the testing done was because of the girlies
DeleteI agree. The best reason for medical history is for the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteLove the wallpaper with Ink's cute little face:)
