The Friday Five Good Things

 Five good things that happened this week.

1. Imagine our surprise watching The Ten Commandments when it ended halfway through the film. No part 2. No Moses parting the Red Sea! We had a good laugh.

2. I had fun prowling through three Dollar stores. So much fun stuff.

3. The snow came down heavily for a little bit and covered the grass. The sun came out and everything melted. I texted 🤬to Himself when I saw it snowing.

4.  After a month of one or both of us being sick, I finally Skyped with the Young One

5. Teague and I started working on dates for 2OLOTR

It got cold, and then 🤬snow. Right there in the middle of the photo, giant flakes of misery. Alright, it didn't amount to anything but was depressing to see. There's still a lot of snow in the back yard.

All the snow is gone from the front yard.

Since I had to get up to feed the kitties,I was up early enough to catch the lunar eclipse. I couldn't get a good pic going outside because the trees were in the way. This is through the window. You can sort of see the shadow taking a bit out of the moon.

The time window was very small so I didn't get to see the Blood Moon as by then the moon had set below the horizon.

Enough 🤬snow!

The sunlight reflecting off the ice on the trees and a plane going somewhere. I hope the destination is exotic and warm and not a plane heading to Providence or New York. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Some snow avalanched off the solar panels. I hope none of the little critters got buried.

Not much of a storm. 1.5 inches of snow. There might have been more snow, but during the overnight hours, we got some sleet. The top layer of snow was a hard crust.

"A" came to clear the stairs, walk, the mailbox, and to remove the slush from the end of the driveway.

The squirrels were busy this morning as we wait for Da Snow

The weather dudes have been dancing and wishing all Winter. They are finally getting the big one. A storm is coming up the East Coast, known as a Nor'easter. It has the potential for blizzard conditions. I'm in the 12 -18 inch path though the weather dudette this morning said we might be on the line for the up to 2 feet.

I think this is a much more accurate weather map for the 600th day of February. Will someone knock that insipid smile off the face of the snowman? Is it July, yet?

There's still a good 8 to 10 inch snowpack on the ground. Instability clouds left a dusting on the ground Thursday when I went to visit Teague. Temperatures got just over the freezing mark so there has been a little melting going on. The video title is  Is this what winter is doing to you?

Snowing across the Tundra

Birds flocking to the feeder like we run out for bread and milk before a storm

The female cardinal stopped by for seeds on the ground. Hi, Ma!

The red-headed woodpecker chased the other birds from the feeder

The condition of the roads was pretty bad

This storm started out with weather forecasters on Friday saying my area would get a coating to an inch of snow. Saturday morning totals were upped to 2 to 4 inches with some areas getting 6 inches of snow. A lull in the storm the measurement was just shy of 3 inches of snow.

When all was said and done, a total of 4.75 inches of snow. Not that I wanted to see any snow, but this was the anniversary of The Blizzard of '78, the benchmark of storms in New England. With that storm I was still living at home with my parents. Our area got 30+ inches of snow and paralyzed the state for a week.

"A" came early in the morning to clear the driveway, cars, and walk.

It's wicked cold and a good day to stay in and hibernate.

Late Summer Day at Ogunquit Beach

It's snowing today and I need me some Summah!

A bunny came out to warm him or herself under the basement air circulator.

Ugh!

Warm temperatures Thursday caused glacier to slide off the solar panels. The temperature plummeted so the glacier is frozen.

The snow at the beginning of last week was light and fluffy. Himself took (the) Boat Anchor Samwise for a test run to see if he could plow through the snow. Here he is after plowing a path to the birdfedder on his way to the heating oil outlet. Way to go, Samwise! I'm not sure Samwise will be able to handle the 18 - 24 inches of snow predicted for my area with the big storm that has been sweeping the country set to arrive later on today.

Saturday started off with a balmy 0 degree F. Only 146 days until the Summer Solstice.

Winged Pig After. I had tried to bring him in but had waited too late. He was welded to the ground. From snow, rain, sleet, freezing, thawing, rinse, lather, a repeat. His nose fell off. However, I never expected him to implode. 

A bird visitor left a calling card in the dusting of snow yesterday. (Sat. 1/17)

Followed by a small creature. A cat?

And the Delivery Person.

Ugh

More Ugh overnight. Lots more branches came down.

But the Widowmakers are still hanging in there.

More Ugh predicted for tonight. The snow storm that was too far off the coast and would only bring my area 1 to 3 inches has now tracked closer. Predicted snowfall over night to be 3 to 5 inches. 🤬

Not my backyard, but the chiropractor's backyard.

Icy steps and walk

Icy trees. Since the beginning of the year, every other day was either a bit of snow or ice.

Not my backyard. This was on the way home from Teague's house. In the 40 years I've lived in this area and driven this street, at all times of the day and night, I have never seen a train come through the crossing. It was a very long train. As long as the trains that go through downtown Framingham and Dennison Crossing.

Not much snow left in my backyard.

No snow in the front yard.
