have sprouted! Well, most of the morning glories (left) have and only a few of the moonflowers (right) have sprouted. The seed packets said sprouts would appear in 7 to 14 days so the morning glories are ahead of schedule.
According to the seed tray directions, the dome of the tray has to be propped open when seeds sprout. When all the seeds have sprouted, the dome will have to be removed and the tray placed in a sunny location. Right now, the seed tray is in the sunroom, but in a spot where it won't get full sun. The sprouts get to spend some time outside during the day to make them hardy before they can be transplanted by the trellis and maybe the front light pole if there are enough plants to go around.

Pen/Brush Rest
One of my 26 Seeds classmates had the cutest pen/brush rest. It was a little, porcelain dachshund. Just adorable. She said it was actually a chopstick rest and a gift from a friend.
I've been thinking about the pen rest all week. Looking at pictures of them online. A good way to put off homework. Saw some cute ones. A roly-poly panda lying on his back and you rest the utensil on his belly, a whale where the rest was on the tail, a porcelain crane made to look like an origami crane, and cats lots of cats. Just what a crazy, cat lady would love.
Eventually trolling the Interwebs gave way to homework, but I was still thinking about the kitty pen rest. I still had a bag of black Crayola Model Magic. So, after I made a fairly decent attempt at a pressurized letter, "I", I rewarded myself with a bit of procraftination. I made a black cat pen rest (what else would I make? 😼 ) Sometimes Ink would lie down with his front legs completely tucked under him. You couldn't tell he had front legs. He looked more like a loaf of bread. That position cracked me up so that's the position I sculpted the pen rest. So, if I can't make decent pressurized Romans, at least I'll have a cute pen rest.

The Friday Five Good Things
Five good things that happened this week.
1. The male Cardinal was at the bird feeder. The female Cardinal was sitting on top of the trellis. The male hopped onto the trellis and fed the female a seed. They looked like they were kissing. He hopped back to the bird feeder and repeated the feeding ritual one more time before the female flew off with the male trailing behind her.
2. Received a bee-utiful postcard from A.
3. Saw the first butterfly of the season. Black with yellow trim
4. Found a safe place to keep some important papers. The papers were so safe because I forgot where I put them. After a few minutes of panic, I remembered where I put the important papers. Got to love Senior moments.
5. One of the squirrels caught sight of the sleeping kitty statue. He ran across the backyard all the way to the Leaf Lady's yard. He ran like his tail was on fire. He must have thought the statute was a real kitty.

Throwback Thursday - The Notebooks
Video; Feast of St. Agrippina - North End, Boston, Massachusetts
I recall having a little cart that I had on the piazza and I would run with it and slam it at the door, it made a noise and I kept this up and my mother would get tired of hearing the bang. She would call Stop! I didn't.
I also at this period crawled on the piazza one day and I didn't watch what I was doing and as I put my hand down I put it on top of a nail that was in a board and my had went down on it and out the top. Mother panicked but I pulled it out. Went to the Relief Station.
I was sitting on the window sill rocking myself I went out too far and landed on the piazza floor. Got a split head and was taken to the hospital actually the Relief Station.
My mother was with me and the doctor wanted to put stitches in and she would not let him do it. I got a bandage.
It would not be my last visit I would need first aid and as I grew up and did foolish things.
I began to acknowledge my brothers and sisters but for the most part, I was a loner.
Holidays were observed and aunts and uncles would be invited.
Summers were nice and there were two or three fiestas with bands. Started on a Saturday with the band marching and each fiesta was in honor of a saint. The neighborhood was Italian, but they came from different parts of Italy. Italy is made up of 22 different people who were brought under one ruler by a general named Garibaldi. His reason that they would do better economically if they were a nation.
The fiesta started on Saturday and ended on Monday when the band at about 9:30 would come down from the bandstand and march a couple of blocks to the park and watch the fireworks. Besides shooting them up in the air, as you see them today, they also had those that lit and would be a work of art as it displayed a figure, or flower, and last by the flags. Italian and American. Each was a work of art.
Also during this short period there would be a display of Italian cookies, pizza, etc. for sale. They were nice times.

T Stands For Tea and Seconds
This ATC is from 2006 when I was doing a monthly ATC exchange with my friend, Lambie. At the time, I was blogging on 360 Yahoo. There were some buggy problems at Yahoo (like buggy problems on Blogger) and the community was a closed group, like a combination of Facebook and Blogger. When I moved the blog (2007), called The Compost Heap, to Blogger, there was no way to port over content from Yahoo to Blogger so I don't have the original text that went with this ATC
In case you're not familiar with ATC, it stands for Artist Trading Card. It is a small work of art 2.5 inches x 3.5 inches. Made to be traded and not sold. It's a bit like an artist's calling card.
The theme according to the back was Altered Playing Card. Around this time, I had discovered Paint Shop Pro by Jasc Software (Jasc was later bought out by Corel) The front of the card was created using the picture tube tool (like adding digital stickers or rubber stamps). The back of the card is an image scanned from the back of a Bicycle brand playing card. The images were printed front and back on cardstock. I'm not sure what the paper is, but it feels like cardstock which would have easily gone through a printer.
The teacup is a real sticker and the text "Tea for" was written with Ziller Glossy Black ink. The nib used for writing would most likely have been a Gillotte 1068A, possibly a Gillotte 303 or 404. The corners of the ATC were rounded with a corner punch.
This post is to do double duty to fit both themes of T Stands for and Second on the Second (the post includes tea and this would be the second time I showed off this ATC). Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang and the Second on the Second group are up to. If you want to play, link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

Beltane
I buried him in the little garden between the birdbath and the birdfeeder. It was his favorite spot to watch the birds, Timex (chipmunk), and squirrels. Ink would sit at the slider door and watch or if the door was open, sniff the breezes through the screen. I also made a garden kite
Over the Winter, Himself was paid an honorarium with an Amazon gift card. He gave the card to me (yeah, Himself is a real keeper). I wanted a garden statue of a kitty and found the sleeping kitty statue. It even came in black which made it perfect.
I'm hoping morning glories and moonflowers will thrive in that spot as it gets sun most of the day. Morning glory and moonflowers seeds are soaking in warm water. That was the suggestion on the seed packet. Himself had a seedling tray so I'll start the seeds indoors and then when they emerge in a couple of weeks, I'll transplant them outside. I think they'll look pretty against the trellis with the string of fairy lights illuminating them at night.
