For Christmas, the Eldest gave me a beautiful teapot for one. Just my color and with cherry blossoms that remind me of her.
Cherry blossom in Japanese is Sakura. When the Eldest received her Confirmation, she chose Sakura as her confirmation name. The confirmation candidates had to explain why they chose their names. The Eldest wrote, "The Japanese believe that cherry blossoms (sakura) fall off the tree at the height of their beauty. Applying this to Christianity, I'd like to be able to end my earthly life at the height of my spiritual beauty."
The teapot has a cylindrical infuser so I can easily brew loose tea like my special blend of Earl Grey, vanilla, blueberry, and chocolate the Eldest also gave to me.
As I was cleaning up and putting the teapot box in the recycle bin, I thought it felt heavy. Pulling apart some packaging, there was a saucer that matches the teacup. Now I can be la-di-dah for my afternoon tea pictured above with a berry tartlet from Omaha Steak.
That's a gorgeous Tea pot CJ. I love that blue and the delicate design. And that is a wonderful story of your daughter choosing the name Sakura. Stay warm today my friend. and Happy T day too. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteToday is a day for the 30 Below Zero Socks from the Vermont Country Store
DeleteSo beautiful CJ and I am sooo glad you did not throw away the gorgeous plate by accident-what a very thoughtful gift-Enjoyed the story too.
ReplyDeleteStay warm Happy T Kathy
I would have been heart-broken.
DeleteIt is -19C here feels like -24C perfect for tea.
ReplyDeleteWe reached a balmy 10 oF. I saw a meme that said I don't want to go outside until the temperature is above my age! 😺
DeleteWhat a beautiful confirmation story :)
ReplyDeleteThe teapot was well-chosen. A set! Happy T Tuesday
I was touched when she read me her explanation and I saved the program she copied it to just in case she was called on.
DeleteThe perfect gift for you! (And the perfect day to enjoy it!)
ReplyDeleteYes on both counts!
DeleteBeautiful teapot, and what a really lovely story about the choosing of the cherry blossom name. Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteI love the colors of this tea pot/cup and saucer combination. It is beautiful. It is my color blue, too. Your daughter's story and confirmation name were the perfect additions to add to this wonderful beauty. The tartlet looked pretty good, too! Thanks for sharing this gift from your daughter and the story behind it for T this Tuesday, dear CJ. It and the story are both wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed the teapot and the story

I was so glad I found the saucer.
DeleteHow wondrous. The tea pot is beautiful as is your daughter's sentiments.
ReplyDeleteNot to brag, but the Eldest is amazing.
Deletehow cool is this...and good thing you found the saucer before mister recycle took it away ~~~ ! ☺☺♥♥
ReplyDeleteThat would have been so awful if the saucer got tossed
DeleteThat berry tartlet looks scrumptious and the perfect accompaniment to a pot of tea. That teapot is lovely. I have always been drawn to cherry blossoms and the blue and white combination.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
Cherry blossoms are a fun floral to paint in watercolors. Hint. 😊
DeleteI love your delicate blue teapot. Gorgeous. I am so glad you didn't throw away the saucer! Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteMe, too!
DeleteThat is such a beautiful tea pot in a really gorgeous blue. The berry tartlet looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite color
DeleteThis is plain crazy!
ReplyDeleteNever in my life have I seen this. Then I found one in the street as free give-away and now I see those tea pots in blogs!
So... how do you use this?! Is the pot as full as the cup? If so... do you double use the tea? I feel a bit dumb. So far it sits in the shelf as deco!
The teapot stacked on the cup is for storage. You brew a little pot of tea like you normally brew tea. When steeped, you pour the tea in the cup with milk/half n half and sweetener if desired. Enjoy! If there’s more tea in the pot, you get a little more in your cup.
DeleteHm,, OK, I thought.... Ahhh, now I get it, milk! Thank you!
DeleteCJ, happy T-day a bit late. I am in love witht that teapot and the fact that it has a built in infuser - sooooo cool. What a thoughtful gift (yes, I am a bit jealous - lol). Sweet story of your daughter - we should all pass when we are at the height of our spirtual heart, however, I fear most people would pass as infants (sadly including myself). Very interesting thought - I know I will dwell on this for days so thanks for sharing it. That tart looks fab (jealous again....). Hugz
ReplyDeleteTea and philosophy go hand in hand.
DeleteGreat that you found that saucer just in time! It would have been a shame if you had lost that.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a beautiful set. It will be well used I'm sure.
I love the name Sakura and I was very moved by your daughter's reason for choosing it.
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
I’m so glad I found the saucer, too.
DeleteWow that is a beautiful tea set and a scrumptious looking tartlet.
ReplyDeleteTea in a pretty pot and cup along with a treat are a perfect combination
DeleteOh Yes - very la-di-dah! What wonderful gift this was, especially to have a hidden saucer to prolong the surprise! The yeacsounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteI love how your daughter chose her name.
Belated Happy T day, Chrisx
It wasn't a blend of tea I would have thought about or chosen together, but surprisingly it was good.
