Himself was weed whacking along the side of the house, but didn't have the heart to whack the hollyhock. In memory of Mitty.

Eh, wadamalone! In a makeshift greenhouse to keep out the critters

May the odds be ever in your favor.

You may or may not remember last week, I took a picture of the first watermelon. Himself had read on the Internet (so it must be true!) that you pick your watermelon by Labor Day. He picked it, and it was too early for picking. It tasted sweet but the color of the flesh was pale pink and the seeds looked more like beans. Something wasn't right. So far, he is leaving the other two alone.

  1. What a delightful and honest look at the joys and challenges of gardening! I love how you celebrate both successes and mishaps it’s a gentle reminder that God’s creation has its own rhythm, and that patience and care bring their own rewards. Even small moments, like noticing the first watermelon or protecting plants from critters, reflect a quiet stewardship of His gifts. I would be glad if you took a moment to read my latest posts as well.

  3. I've never had much luck with eggplant, but yours looks great. And I hope the watermelon gets large and tasty. I like the little make shift greenhouse. Good idea with these cooler nights. Stay dry CJ.

  4. Just a response to your comment on my blog.
I did see Holden had a tornado. They popped a map up and it was right over by where my brother used to live. Channel 7 even mentioned the street he lived on. We had some heavy rains and thunder/lightening but I wouldn't say it was terrible. Rain this morning too. The nice steady kind we need since we're in a moderate drought. Stay dry.
