T Stands for Pennsylvania Christmas

After a late start due to fridge , illness, and the trip down from Hell, we arrived at the Eldest's to spend Christmas and New Year's with her.

Christmas morning began late. The joys of Christmas with adult children. They all fussed when I wanted the second annual foot picture. But a sharp, "Put your foot in!" and everyone hopped to it. Gifts were opened and then cinnamon rolls for breakfast courtesy of the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

Christmas dinner was late in the day. I had ordered a Christmas dinner package from Omaha Steak.  The only grocery store where the Eldest lives is Walmart and I didn't want to go shopping the day before Christmas Eve. (The Young One and I were sick with colds so we stayed an extra day at the hotel to rest and recover). The Eldest has also been unemployed since April so I didn't want her to spend her unemployment check on anything besides her necessities.

The Omaha Steak dinner was fabulous. All we had to do was heat and eat. Spiral Ham, to die for Mashed Sweet Potatoes, Glazed Fancy Carrots (the carrots came in all sorts of colors). The dinner was rounded out by Crescent rolls (again courtesy of the Dough Boy), Sparkling White Grape Juice in pink glasses that once belonged to Doris, and for dessert, a Vanilla Cake, the dessert portion of the Omaha Steak dinner.  While waiting for dinner to heat, I folded red napkins to look like Christmas trees or Santa hats.

After dinner, we played some board games I had brought along as recommended by the Young One. We played Apples to Apples and then Tsuro.

All in all a very, lovely holiday. I hope your holidays were nice, too.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

  3. Wow, you had a great Christmas. It all sounds wonderful. Seems we both had carrots and ham for Christmas day. You had a lot less work, though. I'd probably enjoy the sweet potatoes, but didn't even consider them.

Wonderful photo of the four of you and lovely meal with Doris's pink glasses holding the white grape juice. Thanks for sharing these memories with us for T this Tuesday, dear CJ. And thanks again for the absolutely awesome card, too.

    1. The Eldest loves the color pink so it only seemed fitting that she should have Doris' glasses. Nice that she uses them, too.

    1. I do, too. I thought it was a great way to get everyone on the blog. Can you imagine the whining they would have done if I had taken a proper picture with their faces?

    2. I don't love my own picture being taken, so I can sympathize! Feet is easy, quirky and original. Great new family tradition.

  8. Sounds like a quiet holiday, thank goodness for Omaha Steak! No, I wouldn't have gone to Walmart, and didn't, that close to Christmas.
Happy New Year and Happy T-day

  9. I love those holiday socks! The meal looks yummy, and some years it's just best to have someone else do the cooking. We've had Kroger do ours a couple of times, and it was quite delicious. Happy T Tuesday!

  13. It sounds like your family had a lovely Christmas, despite the colds. I love the stockings shown with the "feet in" photo. And I love the Christmas card you sent Elizabeth! I'm sorry to hear your eldest has been unemployed since April. The media has been portraying the economy as "rainbows and butterflies" for everyone since the alleged "recovery" during Obama, but that continues to be not the reality to this day. (And I'm not blaming Obama nor Trump.) Happy T-Day! I hope the snow weather misses us tonight into tomorrow.

    1. I hope she finds something soon. Her area is severely depressed and not many prospects. Certainly no rainbows or butterflies.

  14. Yum! Sounds like a delicious Christmas dinner. It is always the best when spent with family. I had a chuckle at your annual foot photo. I am not one for feet but if they are covered in pretty socks maybe I would make an exception. Haha.

The dinner from Omaha Steak looks wonderful - brillaint!

I hope the Eldest finds a new job soon. It sounded like such a perfect position.

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx
