DeleteTo me, that is 'afternoon tea,' served around 3.30 or 4.00. High tea is a more robust meal, with pies, hot or cold meats, vegetables, bread, cheese, eaten after 6.00.
ReplyDeleteWell, what do we know? πΊ

DeleteEnglish friends once took us to a wonderful afternoon tea that looked very much like your photo. Definitely a high point of traditional British food (though they also do great roast dinners).
ReplyDeleteYum
DeleteI want to be invited to that high tea. Absolutely stunning. Thanks for sharing this puzzle that has my mouth watering for T this Tuesday, dear CJ. Great drinks, too!

ReplyDeleteThe cheering always cracks me up.
DeleteOne of our children treated me to Afternoon Tea (similar to your picture, with the bubbly too) after my husband died. It was a really lovely surprise and I will never forget it.
