  2. To me, that is 'afternoon tea,' served around 3.30 or 4.00. High tea is a more robust meal, with pies, hot or cold meats, vegetables, bread, cheese, eaten after 6.00.

  8. English friends once took us to a wonderful afternoon tea that looked very much like your photo. Definitely a high point of traditional British food (though they also do great roast dinners).

  12. One of our children treated me to Afternoon Tea (similar to your picture, with the bubbly too) after my husband died. It was a really lovely surprise and I will never forget it.
