Teague and I were looking for a new to us place to eat. She suggested P.J's at the Miss Mendon Diner. The Miss Mendon diner had been popular place but closed after Covid. P.J's another local eatery bought the diner and brought it back to life.
I'm having my usual iced tea and patiently waiting for the waitress to bring me a slice of lemon. While waiting, Teague and I chatted and listened to the tunes from the 50's and 60's.
The diner serves breakfast all day, but I opted for The Cape Codder, "Crispy haddock, American cheese, cheddar cheese, tartar sauce, coleslaw and onion rings on a potato roll" along with a side of Tater Tots. The sandwich was delicious though messy as instead of serving the coleslaw on the side, it was served on top of the fish.
A look inside the remodeled dining car
I was so tempted to take Little Frank home with me.
On the way out, we stopped at the bakery case inside the restaurant foyer. I got a piece of Dutch Apple Pie and Teague got a Marshmallow and Caramel Cream Whoopie Pie to take back to her house for afternoon tea.
We were too busy talking and eating that I forgot to take pictures.
On the way out, I did take some pictures
of the fun
kitsch.

That looks an interesting place. I like the kitsch, too.
ReplyDeleteA new take on the typical, American diner. Good comfort food if a little upscale.
DeleteLooks cute and the food looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice, clean place and the desserts were awesome
DeleteIt looks both yummy and fun!
ReplyDeleteIt was
DeleteWhat a fun place for lunch. You had me at tator tots too:), and you can't go wrong in New England with a fish sandwich. :) I hope the wind hasn't been terrible at your house. We lost power for awhile which is why I'm not visiting until now. Happy T day.
ReplyDeleteTater tots are so fun and these were perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. We had some strong winds, but not enough to take out the electricity.
DeleteA fun place you went to! The 50´s and 60´s, huh. We have "The flying Tiger Copenhagen" and they always play that music, too (it´s a cheapy shop for all kinds of stuff). No food, though and now I am hungry. And all I have is fruit!
ReplyDeleteI want to visit The Flying Tiger Copenhagen!
DeleteI LOVE diner's like that! We have a few around Berks County, PA. In fact one of them was used on a Hall & Oates album cover.
ReplyDeleteThe food looks really GOOD!!
That's a fun factoid about Hall & Oates
DeleteA dining car - what a great idea. I love this. I have to say that I got hungry when I saw your meal - I would have loved that as well. I hope the waitress brought you the slice of lemon.
ReplyDeleteShe did after I asked her for a second time.
DeleteYummy and fun make a good combination.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
And good comfort food
DeleteWould love to have lunch in that fun place.
ReplyDeleteTasty looking food.
Lots to choose from and breakfast all day long!
DeleteSorry I'm late visiting. I adore that diner car. We had one in Wichita, but I think it closed. Sounds like a great meal to go with your tea and lemon, but next time I suspect you will remember to ask for the coleslaw to be served on the side! Thanks for sharing for T this week, dear CJ.
ReplyDeleteI like your background wallpaper.
Yup, next time.
DeleteLooks like a really neat diner. The classic diner in our town just isn’t clean enough for my fussy needs.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not too fond of eating in diners for that reason. This one was newly remodeled so very shiny
Deleteoh WOW! love the diner! I've always wanted to eat in a diner. So coooool! The food looks so yummy! Wonderful photos and have a wonderful weekend!
