The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. Went shopping with the Eldest for uniform scrubs. Thanks to my SIL and her wonderful boss for the discount from  Work 'N Gear

2. Had a nice visit for the annual after Christmas get together at The Brother's.

3. Because of the frozen pipes, Heating Guy sent someone to put anti-freeze in the system. I really hope we are done with the cold weather.

4. Left with the Eldest to help move her to Pennsylvania. Lunched at Cracker Barrel stopped for the night in Wilkes-Barre (like Barry) which is the halfway point.

5. Arrived at the apartment. Internet was installed (she doesn't want cable right now), the free furniture was delivered. Was a long day so she had pizza, salad, cinnamon bread sticks for dessert. All delivered.

How was your week?

  1. Hope the eldest gets settled in and your visit is good. Sounds like it's been a busy week but a good one-other than the fact that the eldest daughter is moving. Happy Friday. Hugs-Erika

    1. The furniture is living room stuff. A lucky beginning for her. Just had to pay the delivery guys. And their fee was very reasonable.

  3. Wow, what a busy week you've had, it sounds fun and exhausting at the same time ...lol 😉. I'm glad that your eldest is all settled into her new home and she has everything she needs 😁. I bet the pizza and sides were very welcome after your day of moving in and unpacking - perfect! I've had one of those weeks where nothing goes to plan, so I decided to stay positive and go with the flow...lol 😉. Stay warm and wishing you a Happy Friday and Weekend! J 😊

  5. I can’t believe how late I am visiting. Seems EVERYONE posted the one day I was gone.

I bet you are exhausted, yet excited to stay with the eldest during her first week at work.

When did I miss that your pipes froze? What pipes and why add antifreeze?

Hope your weekend is as fun as your week seemed to be. Did you get the cook book you wanted for her at Crackle Barrel? Inquisitive, aren't I?

    1. Never late. Always a pleasure to read replies.

It is tiring running around trying to purchase needed items like a microwave, and a card table and chairs. Thank God she lives on the first floor! We're tired but happy

Two weeks or so ago. The day before we were leaving for the 1st Pennsylvania trip, there was no heat from the main system. We also have the mini splits as backup. The house is heated with oil by forced hot water. The return pipes to the boiler for some reason are located in the garage. The temps had been in the minus 20s. The day we left the pipes must have thawed. None of them burst. Thank God. When I talked to the guy who installed the heating system, he said when we got back, he would come and put some anti-freeze into the system to prevent the pipes from freezing. The anti-freeze will last 3 years and then another treatment.

:-D Surprised you remembered about the cookbook. You'll have to wait for a future Tuesday post.

    1. Unfortunately, here in Pennsylvania, Winter is making a comeback this week. It's snowing now Supposed to be 1 - 3 inches of snow. Then cold temps. Snow showers Thurs. and a bigger storm hinted at for Friday. Of course, that's the day I'm flying back to Boston
