Throwback Thursday - Turn Around

Today is a bittersweet day for me. Today, the Eldest moves into her new home far, far, away to begin the adventure of her life.

So I thought I would show the invitation to her high school graduation party I made long ago in 2006.

The text was the lyrics from a song Turns Around (Where Are You Going, My Little One) and used by Kodak for a commercial in the 1960s. Have a listen.

  1. I know how hard this is and what you are feeling CJ. What I don't know is how I would react if my daughter being that far off though, but I can imagine how I would feel. So I will put my own feelings and say be strong, be brave, it will all be OK, and thank goodness this isn't 50 years ago when you had to wait for letters or pay high long distance phone bills. Smile. Hugs-Erika

    1. Yes, at least we are only an e-mail, text, Skype, or phone call away

  2. I know how hard it is when kids move away, but they have to live their own lives. I am sure you have taught her and given her so much that she can start off alone full of confidence and competence. I love the song your paraphrased, and the lovely invite you made. Hugs, Valerie

♥♥ before you know it; your house will be filled with "little ones" again, only this time, grandma can send them home to their mom when the going gets tough !! :) ♥♥

    1. :-D My mother used to say that was the best part of having grandchildren. Being able to send them home.

  4. Unlike others, I have no idea how hard it is to let someone go. I DO know how hard it is to lose a loved one, which isn't the same. At least you will see her again before you know it. And I suspect, although I'm sure she's excited to start a new adventure, she will miss you, too. I bet she comes home to visit before you visit her. Time will tell, I guess. And no, I won't bet money (grin).

    1. Visits for her are going to depend on how much vacation time she accrues. Right now, it's zip.
