Bathroom Remodel

21 years in the making, the countdown clock is ticking for the bathroom demolition day. We've met twice with the contractor and gone over all aspects of the project. I've checked his references, and our financing is in place.

Here's the current view of the bathroom with it's 60's yellow tile. Not long after we moved in, we had a tile floor installed. I had hoped for a blue bathroom and instead ended up with the UCLA Bruins look. If you look closely, you can see the "horse's patoot" scar on the toilet.

The new bathroom will be Euro styled. Think gleaming white. Cleaning should be wipe down easy. This for Himself as he cleans the bathroom. The walls will be white tile. The wall with the sink will be 8" deep cabinets from the ceiling to where the tile is now. White, wipe down, no grooves, dentil work, or ridges to capture and hold powder. The Young One makes it snow with powder. No cabinet handles, but finger grooves on the underside of the door.

The sterile, hospital look will be broken up by a white tile floor with cobalt blue accents. The sink and stall shower will be Swanstone Artic White, white with small, dark blue speckles. The tub will be removed. The washer/dryer will be brought upstairs. Laundry area near the door. Stall shower next to that and a small linen closet.

The dollhouse size of the bathroom is a big problem. To gain a bit of space, the door to the bathroom will be removed and a pocket door installed. To solve the problem of a shower door swinging open, we found a hinged, folding shower door. The window will remain with new clamshell and stool.

Towel bars will be removed and decorative towel hooks will be used instead. I'll post the fixtures and tile as we get them.
