Scrabblings

I hear scratching and scrabbling coming from the wall that separates the playroom from the furnace room. I thought it was Ink romping in the cedar closet, but I found him curled up, sound asleep on a quilt. Some watch cat. I thought the noise might be from a mouse, but the scratching is loud as if made by a large critter. Every once in a while I pound on the wall hoping to scare the living daylights out of the critter. Doesn't seem to be working. There's a moment of silence and then the scratching begins again. He's scaring the living daylights out of me though. Nothing like scary noises to get in the Halloween spirit. Think I'll go upstairs and use the laptop. Scrounge some chocolate and have a cup of tea to calm my nerves.

  1. Uh oh! Is it the chippy that torments Ink through the sunroom windows? Has he decided to nest in your housewall? Perhaps the construction project left an opening somewhere that he got inside through.

  2. Want Big Dog to come do the job? Trust me, if he does to your wall, what he did to the downspout (to get my critter), it will be gone...

(the wall... my critter still lives to taunt big dog.)

  3. Wow! CJ I bet that is scary, maybe it is a squirrel. I've had them in my chimney, and I've had to open it up to let it come down from the fireplace. scrounging up some choolate and going to bed sounded good to me. How are you doing other than having the witts scared out of you. Take care.

  4. It could be a mouse (ew ick, I hate those!)... you'd be surprised how loud their gnawing and scratching can sound... but it could also be a squirrel.

Time to call in the exterminator!
