This piece comes from my 2011 art journal. It is my favorite journal page even though it was done at a very difficult time in my life. There are times when you have to go through the motions, even though you know what the outcome will be. From Harry Chapin's song Dance Band on the Titanic: "I'm in the dance band on the Titanic. Sing Nearer My God to Thee. The iceberg's off the starboard bow. Won't you dance with me?"

Acrylics with glazes, Zig Painty, Dr. Ph. Martin's Spectralite Silver and whatever pen hit my hand first. A Gillotte 1068A, I think.
And today is also Tea day. While I could show you the mug of cold tea sitting near me as I blog, that would be boring. Instead, a photo of these grande dames I found in my parents' attic when I had to clean our their house and get it ready for sale. There must have been at least one silver tea service on the Titanic.

That silver service is perfect. TImes have changed though. Seems people always wanted fancy things like that and now it seems no one really does. But I think they are absolutely lovely. Nice piece too. I think the titanic is a good example to use when things are tough. Happy T day and Tuesday too. No snow this one-thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteMa had tons of knick knacks and fancy dishes. She loved and cherished them. They are mine, now. And a bit like having her still with me. So happy we didn't get more snow. Now if the foot on the ground would suddenly disappear, that would make me very happy.

DeleteI really enjoyed the Titanic drawing. It was great that you shared it, which segued perfectly into the beautiful tea pot and tea service. I was quite impressed because you don't see those things anymore, except in antique stores, which are then overpriced and under appreciated by customers. I don't have a lovely teapot, but I have a creamer and sugar bowl on a tray that belonged to my grandmother. Yours is very ornate, and I enjoyed seeing it.
