1. The Young One's friend's flight was delayed because of thunderstorms. Instead of going out to dinner after dropping them off at the hotel, we sent out for Five Guys before we left for the airport.
2. Saw a new bird in the yard. Brilliant red with black wings. Bird site listed it as a Scarlet Tanager
3. Because the Young One was away, the Eldest cooked dinner. Baked chicken with a delicious, mushroom pilaf. The Young One doesn't like mushrooms. So not a Hobbit.
5. The Nephew's bride extended an invitation to see their new home.
How was your week?
Such a lovely week with plenty of family time 😀. The Scarlet Tanager is stunning with its wonderful colours and thanks so much for including a link about it, isn't it amazing that it changes colour throughout the year 😁. Mmm, then there's the ice cream too, please could I try a bit of both ...lol ...Yum! Talking of ice cream, our summer fruits (cherries, strawberries, peaches) are in abundance now so I made some waffles this week and we had waffles topped with vanilla ice cream, summer fruits and maple syrup - naughty but nice ... lol 😉. Happy Friday and Weekend! J 😊
ReplyDeleteIce cream, fruit, and waffles would make a great breakfast. Naughty or no.
DeleteSounds like you had a nice week CJ. I'll take 5 Guys. They have good shakes and burgers and fries...hmmm, now I want some even if it is before 7AM. Love scarlet tanagers. I haven't seen one in years. Still a lot of chickadees, nuthatches and other wintery birds here. But there are hummingbirds so it is really summer, even if it hasn't felt it a lot of this week. Happy weekend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteHaven't tried Five Guys shakes. I'm partial to Lime Coke (Summer) or Vanilla Coke (Winter). This was the first time I've ever seen a Scarlet Tanager. Cardinals, Red-breasted Grossbeaks, Gold Finches, Mourning Doves, Chipping Sparrows, Grackles, House Finches are some of the birds I've seen so far this year. And a Hummingbird
DeleteNever heard of 5 guys. Must be a chain we don't get in the midwest.
ReplyDeleteThat scarlet tanager is gorgeous. Your photo is fabulous, too.
You seem to be on a food kick this week. I should come visit your place (grin). Glad you found some wonderful things to celebrate this week. Hope you have a great weekend and holiday, too.
Five Guys started in Arlington, Virginia. Don't know how far they've branched out. My bad, the photo is a stock photo from Morguefile. Food kick isn't just this week. I'm Italian. So we celebrate ranges of happy, sad, and mundane with copious amounts of food.
DeleteWe have a Five Guys in Ft Wayne, IN
ReplyDeleteIsn't it Heaven?
DeleteWhat a wonderful week! :D
ReplyDelete:-D
DeleteSounds like a good week...going out to eat when it is hot, or getting take out is always a good idea. Love the sound of the Samoa Icecream. Those along with the thin mints are my favorite girl scout cookies. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteAny time you don't have to cook makes a good week. Looks like Breyer's did a run of GS flavors. Didn't see if Thin Mints was one of them.
DeleteA good week! Gorgeous bird and that ice-cream sounds so yummy!
ReplyDeleteThe Scarlet Tanager was very striking. Haven't seen him this week, though.
