How Does Your Garden Grow?

This week, I was in Pennsylvania with The Eldest while she looked for an apartment. When I left there was still a lot of snow on the ground. We came home to warm Spring like temps and

Most of the snow had melted all around the path I had shoveled to the front birdfeeder

In the Zensical garden. Hello, Rocky! Haven't seen you for months!

The deep snow pack on top of the solar array was all gone.

The Japanese maple finally dropped most of its leaves.

Heavy rains at night left a lake at the end of the driveway and

water rushing in the swale in front of the house.

It was so warm, it felt like a good day to prep Ink's garden

and move all the Zensical gewgaws to their spots

It was so good to see very little snow in the backyard

And bright, blue skies. Ah, Spring!

Wishful thinking as the temperatures soon dropped below freezing and a skim of ice formed on the bird bath. Deep sigh. Forlorn look. Only 157 days until the first day of Summer.

  1. WOW, you got a lot done and your garden looks a TON different from last week. We are supposed to get out of the deep freeze today with highs in the high 30s F. I'll be tempted to get out my shorts. JOKE.
At least the cats will be able to move around in the house, rather than being cooped up in the office, where they and I are starting to get on each others' nerves. Have a super day, dear.

    1. What a difference heavy rain and 56o F. can make in a week. That did all the work.

Hope the weather warms up a little for you to ease the cabin fever.

  2. Well, it's good to be dreaming of spring and summer even if it is still cold. It looks loads better than it did last week. Here it's 10°C, and my marigolds, mums and petunias are still blooming - but they have forecasted some arctic weather for us this week! Hugs, Valerie

    1. Wow! That you plants are still blooming. Guess with the cold you'll have to cover the poor dears.

  3. I bet it's lovely that the snow is nearly gone (for a while anyway ...lol 😉) and to have warmer temperatures and blue skies 😁. Great that you got to tidy the garden. We've had sunny days and colder temperatures, I noticed that our daffodils and bluebells are peeking through already though so I guess that Spring is on its way! Happy Sunday! J 😊

    1. All I did was take photos of the yard. Didn't do any yard work. All that was done by the warm temp. and rain. The warm weather can't come soon enough for me.

  4. Oh it is good to see the ground again! Hopefully this will last a bit! Now if only we could warm up a little bit more, but at least the sky is blue and the sun is shining. Hugs-Erika

  5. Silly you! Even with global warming, to think spring had sprung in January! ;) Wishful thinking indeed! (If it makes you feel any better we're having frost warnings!)

  6. Yes, we have had more cold, freezing temps so far here than snow (not that I am complaining or anything, mind you). But they are expecting more snow this week sometime.

So, what did you think of PA on your visit? :)

    1. I did't expect PA to be so hilly/mountainous.The Eldest will be living in Western PA. The last hour of the drive seemed to take forever. Not as much snow as we had at home. the town is nice, quiet. People seem to be friendly.

  7. We had the same thaw and now we are covered in snow again, but we are suppose to get another thaw this weekend. For me, I hope winter goes a little longer. I know I'm crazy! LOL! Enjoyed your pictures!
