How Does Your Garden Grow?

Cinnamon found some tasty shoots close to the sun room door.

The little, red squirrel closed the hatch to the feeder leaving the male Goldfinch bewildered.

CJ schlepped out to open the feeder hatch just in time for the male Cardinal to have a snack.

The male Rosy-breasted Grosbeak stand guard on top of the shepherd's hook

so his mate can have a turn at the feeder. There's a Goldfinch on top of the trellis.

The Grosbeaks share a meal together

Potential, sunny wishes bloom before the lawn service arrived for Spring clean up

This little fellow caused quite a stir outside the calligraphy class studio window at WAM.

Back at my house, the woods on a foggy morning.

The little red squirrel stuffs his face

A half inch of rain from a dreary Saturday

Morning glories hardening up waiting to be planted. Red gave me some echinacea, lily of the valley, and some milkweed.

  3. Your garden is doing well, and it's great to see all of your visitors. The squirrels are cheeky little things! But I'm glad we don't have skunks here....Hugs, Valerie

    1. I was surprised to see the skunk in the middle of the city. We don't usually see the out here in the country unless they are road kill, but we sure can smell them

  4. Good morning, I enjoyed your post-the birds and animals are always so entertaining-loved the foggy woods. we have a family of wild rabbits here now-we noticed them over winter-I am not too happy with them right now-cause I am sure it was them that snuck in my garden and ate all of my just planted melon plants oh well. lol Happy Mother's Day

    1. I just brewed up some Bunny Juice to deter the bunnies from eating the morning glories as so as they are hardened. In an empty and clean, gallon milk jug: 5 cloves of crushed garlic, 1 tsp red pepper flakes, 1 T. dish soap. Fill with water. Let sit in the sun a day or two. Spray plants you don't want the bunnies to eat. Bunnies don't like it and it won't hurt them or the plants. Reapply after rain

  5. I'm enjoying seeing your wildlife :) and your foggy woods I'm impressed with the rain gauge. That'd be fun here. We don't get the red squirrels, but our chipmunks are voracious at the bird feeders.

  6. WOW, I'm glad I don't have a bird feeder anymore. Some animal broke mine, so I have never replaced it. Looks to me like your garden is starting to take shape, and your squirrels and bunnies are enjoying the fruits of your labor. You make keep the skunk. Thankfully, they are scarce in the city.

    Happy Mother's Day, dear C.J.

    1. The garden is starting to wake up and there's a steady stream of customers at the feeder. I was surprised to see the skunk at the art museum right in the middle of the city.

  8. I take it WAM is the Worcester Art Museum and I will say, that is a busy place for a skunk. I went by there yesterday going to and coming from my Moms. I think it was WPI graduation day as the road was filled with cars parked like everywhere and police where out directing traffic. Today was gorgeous, and you were lucky and got rain yesterday. I wish we'd had some here at home but I think it was just cloudy. Hope you had a fantastic Mother's Day CJ. Hugs-Erika

    1. Yup, WAM = Worcester Art Museum. I was very surprised to see a skunk in the middle of the city. Yes, WPI graduation was Saturday. The next few weekends are busy in Worcester with the 10 colleges and high school graduating. I had a nice Mother's Day. Hope yours and your mom's was pleasant as well.

    1. I had a nice Mother's Day. Hung out watching movies in the sun room with Himself, texted with The Young One. She was attending a wedding in Ohio. And The Eldest called on the phone from her home in Pennsylvania. Life is good.
