T Stands for Mother's Day Dinner

Himself asked me what I wanted or where I wanted to go for Mother's Day dinner. I wasn't sure of what I wanted, but I knew where. I don't like going out to eat on holidays, even the Hallmark holidays. Places are crowded, busy, and you're rushed through your meal. Nope, not me. I wanted a leisurely dinner at home.

Then I read BioArt Gal's blog where she said her and her hubby had gone to Pop's Clam Shell and they got a Fisherman's Platter. I blame her because all I could think of was fried clams.

Pop's is too far from me so I had to be satisfied with Harry's where fried food is considered a food group.

We did a buy and fly on Saturday. The parking lot was almost full when we pulled in to pick up our order. I guess others had the same idea of beating the crowd.  I ordered the Big Belly Plate, clam chowder, and a Raspberry Lime Rickey.

The Eldest was off for Mother's Day weekend so we had a nice, leisurely dinner. She had fish and chips, along with lobster bisque. Himself had the lobster bisque, a scallop plate, and a coffee frappe (what the rest of the world calls a shake)

I only eat half of what I order in a restaurant so I had leftovers and no cooking on Sunday. A perfect day.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

  1. I like it when meals do for two days. Cooking is not my favourite occupation.

  2. Now that's what I want. Fried clams. :) This looks delicious. Sorry for being such a bad influence. :) Happy T day, and I bet this was the tastiest Mother's Day meal.

    1. No, I was glad for the suggestion especially since it's too hot for fried clams today. Stay cool

    1. Steamed clams are a lot of effort for so little gain. You have to wash the sand off them before you eat them.

  5. Such a nice Mother's day. I would love to have a Pop's or Harry's type place close to me. The food at both sounds and looks so good. Have a lovely day today.

    1. Yup, good food. Even the choices that aren't fried are good, too

  6. Oh, I completely agree with you, holiday crowds at restaurants are the absolute worst, so a "buy and fly" the day before is pure genius! That Big Belly Plate and Raspberry Lime Rickey sound like the ultimate comfort meal, and having leftovers means the actual holiday was truly relaxing. It’s so wonderful you got to enjoy a nice, leisurely dinner with the Eldest and Himself without any of the rush. Thanks for sharing, and happy T Tuesday!

  8. I've never had clams, so I will take your word that they were good. Not sure what a belly is, either, but I am glad you enjoyed your meal twice! Thanks for sharing it and your raspberry lime Rickey with us for T this Tuesday.

BTW, sorry I'm late visiting. We had massive storms yesterday, so I turned my computer off to save it from getting zapped.

    1. Belly is the whole clam. The other option is clam strips which are slices of the large foot of the clam. Strips are far less expensive, but the whole belly is the best eats

  9. Clever idea. I´m no Mother hence Ingo didn´t know or care it was Mother´s day and wanted to take me out to the steak-house, LOL!

  10. I had to chuckle at myself for thinking 'buy and fly' involved buying a ticket and flying off somewhere. Instead you drove to a restaurant and had a lovely fish meal with so much left over for a Sunday dinner too. That can't be bad.
Mother's Day seems to be on a different day in every country. In the Netherlands it's the second Sunday in May. In Spain it's on the first Sunday of May and in the UK it's the fourth Sunday in Lent, so on different dates every year.
Oh that AI art is beautiful!
I haven't seen much sun this holiday. Today (in Istanbul it's even raining!) We are going on a food tour soon. I'm ready to go so I fill these spare minutes with doing some comments.
    Happy T-Day,
    Lisca

    1. Buy and fly is driving to the restaurant to pick up a take-out order and then flying home to eat it. I'm up for a food tour! Have fun and safe travels
