T Stands For Crab Cakes

I had dropped off my piece to have framed for the WAM Faculty art show.  After running my errand, Himself asked where we should go to lunch. One of my students had told me of a restaurant in the area that served to die for Crab Cakes. So we decided to give Burtons a try.

A Coke for Himself and an unsweetened ice tea with lemon for me.

Industrial chic decor. The ceilings were so high we both said we wouldn't like to see the heating bill in the Winter.

We started with a Stuffed Zucchini appetizer. Stuff with gorgonzola cheese.  I'm not a big fan of cheese, but the rest of the dish was excellent.

A beautiful presentation of Salmon Romesco for Him and Crab Cakes with a Dill and Mustard Aioli for me. I swapped Sweet Potato fries for the regular French Fries

We decided to split dessert. Chocolate Cake with a Raspberry Coulis. I also ordered a cup of tea. I had a hard time choosing a blend. There was a Lavender Earl Grey which sounded tempting, but I decided on a good old standby.

English Breakfast Tea with Half n Half, and Truvia (Stevia)

Though the food was excellent, we decided the prices were a bit on the steep side for a run of the mill out and about lunch stop. However, we decided we would go back for a special occasion.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

  1. That looks really yummy! I've never had cheese stuffed zucchini, but it sounds delicious. And I have to say your dessert really made my mouth water! Where is Burtons? If I go visit mom with the hubby or my daughter we look for places to go eat. Happy fall, or maybe not what you want to hear-smile. hugs-Erika

    1. Burtons is in Shrewsbury behind where Spag's used to be. There's a Whole Foods there and then behind that a mall. I think they call it Lake Way Commons. The food is excellent. And they also have a Gluten Sensitive menu

  5. It looks like something I'd pick and want to go back to. I do wish prices weren't so high, but around here even a casual burger at an actual restaurant starts at $10 or so. Your dessert would make it worth the price, though. Wow! Gorgeous! Happy T Tuesday

  7. Well first off ...i got a little bit excited when I saw those drinks on the table - ...I thought at first it was a Long Island Ice Tea which it has been ages since I had one - but now I'm thinking I need to get out of here and go to a bar and listen to some country music and sip on a tea. I need to go back in your posts to see what you are entering in the art thing.

Look at the 3rd widget in the right-hand side bar. The House Blessing is going into the WAM Faculty Art Show.

    1. I love sweet potato fries. These were perfectly done. Nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The cake was a slice of Heaven. 😋

  10. I'll never complain about prices of food in Kansas after seeing what you paid for your two lunches. And I didn't even FIND the dessert menu, which was good, because what you had was already $73.50 (USD) without tax. And to think I complained for having to pay around $13.00 at Cracker Barrel, a run of the mill chain I stopped at on my way home from Museum Day. Not sure the ambiance was worth it, but I am sure you two had a nice day out together which more than made up for it.

Thanks for sharing your experience at Burtons, your tea, both iced and hot, and your husband's coke with us for T this Tuesday.

    1. Living on either coast is way more expensive than living in the flat lands. You get more bang for your buck. 😊

  12. Your food did look delicious and I am sure we would have had a larger bill in the UK. I liked your choice of tea,I think I would have passed the half and half with that blend.
    Happy T day wishes.

I sadly don´t like seafood much, I´d rather take a CRABBS - happy day to you!

  14. It all looks good. I would have had a difficult time choosing. With appetizer and dessert and beverages, it was probably pricey. We are so frugal ( a nice word for cheap) that we don't get appetizers, beverages or dessert when we dine out. That is why we love cruising, all that comes with the cruise! We may be done with cruising however as it all has gotten too expensive, plus the flights are outrageous now to get to the ship. So, all that said, I guess instead of cruising, we shall start being more extravagant when we dine out! LOL I didn't mean to get so long winded!
    Happy T Day.

    1. There are times we splurge and times we don’t. We are also thinking about a cruise. As you said, maybe it’s cheaper to go out to eat. Thanks for your comment

  15. Now that looks really yummy. I would probably have chosen hubby's salmon. The desert looks very tempting (My kingdom for a piece of chocolate).
I'm sorry I am late in commenting. We've been away camping on the coast and there was no wifi on the campsite.
    Happy belated T-Day,
