Saturday Afternoon at the Movies

This idea came from a Facebook meme:
Over 10 days, post your 10 all time favorite films. What movie has really made an impact on you or what films can you watch over and over and never tire of? Post either the movie poster, DVD cover or even a screenshot on your timeline. No need to explain.

Only I had a hard time picking out just 10 movies so my favorites over the next few hundred Saturdays 😸 in semi-alphabetical order:me favorite films. Spring Fever

Some sunny days and unseasonably milder temps. have me feeling a bit of Spring fever. With Spring fever comes the urge to Spring clean. Christmas cardinal curtains were taken down. Windows in the kitchen, dining and living rooms were washed. Every day curtains for those rooms laundered and put up.

The momentum pushed me to tackle the closet in the studio. A couple of the shelves gave way under the weight of books.I should have taken a before picture. Books that I don't use were weeded out.The rest of the books were organized by subject and spaced so that the shelves wouldn't bow under the weight. History, small inspiration, go to books on illumination, Celtic knotwork, drawing, altered art, journaling, books I bring to class, and finally a place for the large binders filled with notes and handouts from classes I've taken, and artwork sent to me by friends over the years. The notes are slowly being digitized. I have too much stuff.

Does nice weather shift you into cleaning mode?

T Stands for Aussie-some Dessert

After early voting in Massachusetts' Primary election, Himself and I went out to lunch at the Outback. Himself had a coupon.

The Outback Restaurant is an Australian themed steakhouse restaurant though they serve a variety of chicken, seafood, and sandwiches with colorful Aussie names. I wasn't planning on using this outing as a T Day post so I didn't take pictures of the signature bread, grilled shrimp appetizer, my steak and coconut shrimp  😻 with baked sweet potato and a salad or Himself's cup of clam chowder, salmon with bacon and Summer squash. I had my usual unsweetened iced tea with lemon and Himself had a Coke.

There was nothing special about this lunch. Until dessert.

New to Outback's dessert menu, this Aussie-some dessert served on a boomerang.  The cups from left to right contained chunks of the Chocolate Thunder Down Under Brownie, whipped cream, chocolate for dipping, chunks of a Vanilla Rum cake, and chunks of pineapple and strawberries. There was more than enough to share and enough to take home. Aces!

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

Second on the Second - Work in Progress

From 2. March 2010. This post describes part of the process for preparing a piece. The quote chosen was "If you can't stand the heat, don't tickle the dragon" and was to be my entry for the WAM faculty art show.

Now that I have my quote, I need to decide what it will look like and where/how it will be used. Since I will be given a space to hang my artwork, this piece will be a framed work instead of making a small book, box or some other 3D piece.

I draw quick and dirty thumbnails of various ways to write out the quote. I don't need to write the quote out. Just a few lines and squiggles to indicate where things will go. This gives me an idea of what it will look like before going through the trouble of writing it out in pen and ink with the illustration. Thumbnails are a big time-saver. If I hate the layout at 2 inches big, I'm not going to love it any better when it's 10 inches big.

I can write the quote in a circle with the illustration in the center. Write the quote in a straight line or lines with the illustration above. Write the qoute in a curve above the illustration. Write the quote in a curve below the illustration. I can divide the quote into four sections and write each section along an edge of the paper with the illustration in the center. I can go on and on with possible layouts by tossing in how I will hold the paper: portrait or landscape.

The previous layout of this quote was done in a circle with the illustration in the center of the circle.

This is the layout I like best and the one I'll use.

How do you go about planning your work?
