For the past four seasons, my friend, Red, has invited me over to watch Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series on Starz as we don't have that channel in our cable lineup. The program aired on Saturday night and then was switched to Sunday.
This season, BBC America decided to air Doctor Who in the same time slot as Outlander. Such first world problems trying to decide what to watch. Since Sunday night is the night I usually Skype and watch programs with the Eldest, going over to Red's was out.
Instead, Red invited me over on Tuesday nights to watch the show. She's been taping the episodes. Her husband bowls on Tuesday nights so we can have a girls' night catching up on doings, gossip, the show all while sipping a cup of tea and not disturbing him.
I got behind several episodes due to Red and her husband being sick, me in Pennsylvania for Christmas, New Year's Eve, and meetings. With all that over with, I was able to go over and catch up on missed episodes. And you know what I found out? Red hasn't been watching the episodes without me. She waited until I was able to go over so we could watch the show together. Isn't she a good friend?
Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.
That's a really good friend who waits for you to watch Outlander and handsome Jamie! I look forward to Wednesday evenings here to get my next fix! Happy T Day, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI was so surprised to learn she was waiting to watch the episodes with me.
DeleteThat sounds like a fun type of girls night. WE recorded the finale and I have to still watch it also. I wonder about poor Roger, but I was mad at him when he went back. Hope you have a fantastic T day my friend. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWe're a bit behind, but are planning a binge day
DeleteYes a very special friend and a perfect girls day out.
ReplyDeleteI have not been watching Outlander on Starz since I am reading the books. decided to read those first. I am ready for book 4 once my eyes get better for reading and I think that is where this years films are now.
stay warm and safe and Happy T hugs Kathy
Yup, I think they are in Drums of Autumn. Rest those eyes so you can continue with the book series.
DeleteI don't watch either of those shows, but how nice of your friend to wait for you and it's a great way for the girls to get together too! Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteIt was sweet of her to wait so we can watch together.
DeleteI've read all the books CJ ... I missed seasons 2 and most of 3 on the TV THEN i found them on YouTube! So now i have seen all of Season 4 ... Have you read the books? I like the TV show but the books are incredible.. Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteI've read the series and am currently in the middle of book 8, Written in My Own Heart's Blood. Trying to finish before Go Tell It To the Bees comes out. I read the first 4 or 5 books through 2 or 3 times before reading book some of the later books. Gabaldon writes well, but there is such a long gap between the books, I forgot the story and characters.
DeleteIt was that way for me with Clan of the Cave Bear series.. Iam currently rereading that series. I was lucky.. i didn't get hooked on Outlander until most of the books if not all were already out. Looking forward to the next one..
DeleteHow nice to watch programmes with a friend. I haven't seen either of those yet but we are watching all of yhe suits boxset
ReplyDeleteThe room looks cosy with your mugs
Have a great T day
Love Chrissie xx
It makes watching the program more enjoyable having someone who likes it just as much.
DeleteNice of Red to wait for you! :)
ReplyDeleteShe's the best!
DeleteWhat a good and loyal friend you have.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day
Red's a gem
DeleteA true friend! That looks like a cozy tv-watching spot. I like those gold picture frames. I'd always pick Doctor Who, but how nice that you can watch both :) Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeleteWell, I did pick Doctor Who because the Eldest and I watch it together while Skyping. Now that's it's done for the season we have moved onto Worst Cooks as that's a favorite show of the Eldest.
DeleteRed is a great friend and was very nice to wait for, so you could watch the episodes together. And I like that you two worked out a night to see it where you get to have a girl's night out of it also. Happy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteIt worked out that her husband went out so we don't disturb him with our chatter.
DeleteWhat a wonderful friend to wait for you and I bet you have so much fun watching the series together 😁. So nice to have a girlie night together each week! Happy T Day! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteYup, we can squee and ogle Jamie every time he's on screen :-D
DeleteHubby and I are hooked on Outlander too. We liked the first three seasons better than 4; but it's still a great cast and a very well-done show. How nice of red to wait for you. Oh, the suspense!
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
And it has stayed fairly true to the books
DeleteShe IS a good friend. I would probably have secretly watched them and told you I didn't, so you would THINK I was a good friend, lol. I need to check that series out. It must be good.
ReplyDeleteI would have done the same thing :-D
DeleteIt's always fun to have someone to enjoy a show with. How wonderful of your friend to wait for you. Sounds like the perfect way to spend a friends night.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
It's always a nice visit at Red's
DeleteIt sounds like you have a really lovely friend to watch the programs with on TV. A girlie night watching TV sounds good to me.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
and don't forget a nice cup of tea. (-:
DeleteI have never gotten into Outlander, and really don't even know what it is about. I guess I am behind the times! Enjoy! Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteA woman on her second honeymoon 1945, visits a stone circle and falls through time. She wakes up in Scotland in 1745 and meets a young Highlander just before the Jacobite rebellion and the Battle of Culloden. It's sci-fi historical romance, adventure all rolled into one amazing series. Outlander is the first of an 8 volume story. The 9 volume is currently being written by author, Diana Gabaldon
DeleteShe is a good friend:)
ReplyDeleteGlad you're getting the best of both worlds.
Me, too.
DeleteNow that is friendship for you! How sweet of Red to wait until you could watch them together.
ReplyDeleteI have no experience of watching tv with a friend as we don't have a tv. But hubby and I have started to watch DVDs (that have been given to us) on Monday night. (We forgot this week)
I have read the first book of the Outlander series. I didn't like it enough to read any others.Savage whippings and violent sex, no that's not for me. Although I loved the idea of time travel.
I have now learnt that one can’t do comments on an ipad, so I apologise for all those occasions that I appear not to have commented (I always do) and from now on I will use my desk top computer even if it means being a day late as we are always away on Tuesdays.
Belated happy T-Day,
Lisca
I made this comment from my iPad, there was a glitch that prevented this, but I did an iPad IOS update and the bug must have been fixed. On the upper right of your blog, you should see that you are logged. Right above your banner. If you see the email address you use to log into Blogger, you’ll be good to go 🙂
DeleteThank you for joining T yesterday. I'm so pleased you showed up, even though I was unavailable. Please check my Wednesday post I still haven't written to see where I have been. Thanks, too, for your visits and kind comments while I was away. I'll be back soon to visit and see what I have missed. For now, just be aware, dear CJ, I am so grateful for your visit and continued support of T Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home.
DeleteI haven't seen Outlander but have seen clips and it looks good! How great that you and red can get together to watch together and how good of her not to watch without you! Belated Happy T day! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteThe series is excellent and staying very true to the books
DeleteWhat a great friend! That is excellent CJ! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteShe's the best
DeleteOMGosh. Yes, that is a good friend, but I have NO IDEA what Outlander is. I swear I feel like a mushroom (kept in the dark and fed worm droppings). You have to forgive my ignorance, I fear.
ReplyDeleteOutlander is a series of novels (currently 8) by Diana Gabaldon. She's currently working on the 9th novel. The first novel in the series is Outlander. So fans just grouped the series under that title. 4 years ago, the STARZ network began filming the series. The cast and scripts are excellent as Gabaldon is also a consultant with the show so the TV series is very true to the books. How to describe it? Sci-Fi (time travel to Jacobean Scotland), historical romance. Explicit sex scenes and violence. Not everyone's cup of tea though Gabaldon writes exceptionally well
DeleteShe sounds a great friend :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
She is.
