Throwback Thursday
Usually I don't listen to sports chatter, but this week with a big game and the even bigger game a couple of weeks away, I've been hearing the phrase "Tom Terrific" applied to Tom Brady, quarterback of the New England Patriots. While I don't want to take anything away from Mr. Brady, he may be (a) Tom Terrific, but he's not THE Tom Terrific.
Tom Terrific was a cartoon segment (late 1950s) shown on the Captain Kangaroo Show. Tom wore a funnel as a hat, his magic thinking cap. Tom could turn himself into any shape he wanted. Tom, along with his mighty dog Manfred outwitted Tom's nemesis, Crabby Appleton (Rotten to the Core) I loved this cartoon.
I've shown my age. Now show yours. Do you remember THE Tom Terrific/

ReplyDeleteMy lips are sealed!
DeleteI remember the Captain Kangaroo Show (and Mr Green Jeans) but I don't remember Tom Terrific. (useless trivia: Captain Kangarro lived around the corner from us when we lived on Long Island.)
ReplyDeleteSeriously? Bob Keeshan lived around the corner from you? Any (blog) stories?
