Christmas Eve sunset. Red sky at night, sailors delight
A new weather station for Christmas. It's been given the name Dickie after WCVB meteorologist, Dick Albert.
The new station shows the phases of the moon. It didn't show in the photo, but there's still a sliver of a waning crescent before the New Moon on 12/30.
After working in a hospital laboratory for several years, I'm a firm believer that the crazies come out when the moon is full. At the New Moon, too, which is just a full moon we can't see.
Dickie needs to collect a little more data as it's showing the weather forecast for the next 12 hours as partly sunny.
Not quite, Dickie, but another rainy, gloomy day.
How does your garden grow?
Looks like you had a white Christmas, and we're in for a warm up, but lots of rain-or so they say. My snow is just about gone. I better check to the forecast to see if there is any more expected this week. Dickie is a fun gift. I like that it has the moon phases on it. Have a great Sunday.
ReplyDeleteSounds like rain on and off this week. Better than snow!
DeleteYour Christmas eve photo with the sunset sing through the trees is wonderful
ReplyDeleteIt was very pretty

ReplyDeleteWhat’s its name? - CJ
DeleteSunny ... warm 74 F dry ... oh so dry.... Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteWe’re in for some heavy rain this week. Trade? - CJ
DeleteWe're promised a cold snap next week, so everything will probably grind to a halt . . . oh, joy!
ReplyDeleteMaybe a forced chance to slow down? - CJ
DeleteGloomy is correct. It is dark, damp, and dreary here, too.
ReplyDeleteYou are quite right about the Full and New moons. They say that the reason for its' effects on people and most especially mental patients is scientific and has to do with the oceans and the air pressure in the atmosphere? I tend to believe that to be so.

I know it to be true because the emergency room would be hopping. - CJ
DeleteIts so country feeling where you are. I like that you can see the sunset. I have to go out to the rim of the world hwy 18 to see it. I haven't seen a sunset from my house since we moved here in 2013. I really miss it. Wow you worked in a laboratory.
ReplyDeleteThe town I live in is a rural, farming community. Yes, I worked in a hospital laboratory. I started in high school as a receptionist. Worked through college and a few years after I graduated college. I moved up from receptionist to a float. I was a back up phlebotomist. Ran the lab computer and benched specimens in microbiology. Out of all the jobs I have held, working at the hospital was the best.
DeleteI'm fascinated by this weather station and I'm absolutely SHOCKED that I don't have one. I love tech data as much as you do CJ, and I actually considered going into Meteorology at one point. I'm afraid all I'd do is sit and stare at the screen and never get any work done. Sometime you'll have to walk me through what I need to look for in getting one of these things!
ReplyDeleteMostly, it will depend on how much you want to spend. The more $$ the more bells and whistles
DeleteHa- I posted that as anonymous for some reason! What a dope. I'm looking for bells and whistles and accuracy.
DeleteI sent you another email.
DeleteNo snow where I live but we have a strong wind warning over the New Year period ... think I may just stay in!
ReplyDeleteTaking the opportunity to wish you a happy and healthy 2025.
All the best Jan
Our weather is supposed to turn blustery towards the end of the week. Happy New Year!
