I had to be vigilant about emptying water cups and bowls after inking or painting. Ink liked to jump on the drafting table to take a swig or two of the dirty water. I was never sure why. He always had clean water in his bowl in the kitchen.
I don't know if he liked the "get down from there. You don't belong up there." attention if I was working at the computer station and heard lapping noises. Maybe it was any dirty water container instead of trotting upstairs if he wanted a drink. Or maybe forbidden water, when no one is around, just tastes better. I've also repurposed Ink's water and food bowls as über clean, sorta clean, and dirty water bowls while painting.
Sample for upcoming workshop at the Worcester Public Library |
I didn't know the Worcester libraries did workshops. Are you at the main branch downtown? I love those letters-they are gorgeous. Happy T day. Stay dry dry today. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI have taught at several libraries. Many libraries receive grants for outreach programs. I'm teaching a calligraphy workshop at the main branch of the Worcester Public library in May. I will also be teaching a scrapbook/art journal workshop there in July, too.
DeleteOnly cat lovers could find humor in this. Bleubeard will drink everything and anything, Squiggles will drink day old water, but Sally has a cat that is so fussy, she will only drink fresh water. She would go pretty thirsty at my place (grin).
ReplyDeleteI really adore those letters. Looks like a wonderful workshop for calligraphers, too.
Really enjoyed your comparison of water with us for T this Tuesday. This is a clever post.
I just boggled my mind Ink's attraction for dirty water. He got a fresh bowl of water every morning. His water never lasted to be day old. Though he wouldn't drink from the bowl if he knocked kibble bits in the water. It must have been like mushy cereal. Sometimes I think he tossed the kibble in the water bowl on purpose.
DeleteGlad you liked this post. Headbutts to Bleubeard and Squiggles
Really lovely calligraphy letters. I guess Ink just does what cats do- get into anything and everything:) Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteThank you. He certainly did manage to get into things
DeleteI love the A to Z...beautiful! Awesome news on the workshops too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, A. I'm looking forward to the workshops
DeleteLooks like a really special workshop coming up.
ReplyDeleteFunny about your kitty...forbidden is an attraction for many ;-)
Happy T Day oxo
Seems kitties like forbidden too
DeleteMy black cat Jinx is the same way ... he has his own water bowl but LOVES to drink my paint water on my desk... don't understand it either.. so i have to be diligent and i have some paint water jars that have lids on them so if i can't dump it immediatel or just want to walk away a minute i can pop the lid on.. Its like a butter crockery jar or some such thing.. Anyway.. Happy T Day Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteAh, if Jinx only had thumbs :-D
DeleteMy Kitty used to try most drinks and other things, too. They are very curious animals.Happy T Day! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteInk never showed interest in other drinks. Just the dirty water
DeleteFluffy never liked drinking from her bowl even though I changed it every day....she preferred 'twalette water'....until she got sick, then it was acceptable.
ReplyDeleteAwesome lettering!
I always put the lid down. Grossed me out when Ink would take a swig.
DeleteOur cat is the same. He will drink anything in sight. I have to be careful never to leave fertiliser in the watering can because kitty will drink it.
ReplyDeleteLovely celtic type lettering. Beautiful!
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
It seems to be a cat thing to prefer the dirty water
DeleteThe story about your kitty made me smile :-) . I love your calligraphy letters - amazing! Enjoy your workshop and wishing you a Happy T Day! J :-)
ReplyDeleteThank, you. The water bowls bring back happy memories. I miss my fur buddy
DeleteCats are so hard to figure sometimes. They have their own special ways :) I like the lettering. The workshop oughta be interesting. Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteCats are sure mysterious creatures. I'm looking forward to the workshop. Always fun to share what I love to do.
DeleteCats always have a mind of yheir own I reckon maybe the used water tasted better for some reason
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day
Love Chrissie xx
Ink certainly had a mind of his own. A preference for dirty water over clean leaves me baffled :-D
DeleteWhat sweet memories of Ink, CJ. Pets are strange, funny and wonderful. Our dog doesn't like to drink from her bowl either. I told my hubby I think she doesn't like the aluminum. So I've got my eye out for a nice porcelain dog bowl. Sadie comes into the bathroom evey morning after we've showered and delights in licking water from the shower stall floor. I know - yuck!
ReplyDeleteYour calligraphy is beautiful!
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
Thank you.
DeleteYup, good memories. Hope you find a dog bowl Sadie likes.
yes I agree with the others, when we had a cat she wasn't at all fussy about where or what she had to drink.
ReplyDeleteThe workshop sounds and looks like it will be very interesting.
Happy T Day.
Yvonne xx
I always thought it was just Ink. :-D
DeleteOur cat would have to be stopped from drinking out of puddles - even though the water bowl was always kept fresh! Love the look of the workshop sample! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chris. I'm sure Ink would have been a puddle drinker or a birdbath drinker, too. He was an inside cat as we live on a main road.
DeleteGot to love our cats, in all their crazy ways!! :)
