How Does Your Garden Grow?

Lots of activity in the Cardinal nest. I think the babies have hatched. The nest walls are high, and I can't see in. Papa comes to the nest several times a day. He's sensitive to the slightest movement from the kitchen. I haven't been able to get a picture of him at the nest.

A herd of grackles came to visit.

Papa Cardinal after a visit to the nest.

Forget-me-knots.

Buds on the snowball bushes

Wild strawberries in the lawn

A fine crop of dandelions

Vinca overgrown with weeds

Lily of the valley

Milkweed

Ink's garden needs a bit more sprucing up

How does your garden grow?

  1. Your garden is looking good. Hope you get to see the 'babies' sooner or later. My balcony garden is flourishing, lots of plants springing up, and not just weeds. Have a great Sunday, Valerie

    1. You'll have to take some pictures of your balcony

  2. It looks like you have a lot of similar flowers growing as I do. I love those forget me knots. They grow in my yard but I didn't know their name. It's been another mostly overcast or rainy week, but now most of the trees are in full leaf. (They're behind by about a week this year.)

    1. Yup, we're in for more unsettled weather and chilly temps this week.

  3. You have such lovely plants and flowers growing in your garden! Our dandelions are popping up everywhere as usual and they are sprouting the "cotton-like" looking seeds all over our ground.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day CJ!

    1. I love dandelions. I have happy memories of chubby, little fists clutching the blooms and handing them to me.

  5. I was amazed how much greener things were down in Worcester than here. In the city itself even more so. I was looking back and we are definitely a couple of weeks behind this year. Your garden is looking great from these photos though. And baby birds too. How cool. Happy mother's day and happy new week. Hugs-Erika

  6. I hope you catch sight of those babies as they grow :) We don't have a nest here but did get a young one getting fed at our feeder today. So sweet :) I try to chase away grackles when I see them. It's an advantage that you have so much space. Milkweed is something I'd love to have but don't have room or enough sun for. I look forward to more photos as it grows. I miss things like dandelions and wild strawberries, but I don't miss the lawn maintenance ;)

    1. I hope we get to see the babies. As to lawn maintenance, it was never my job. :-D Himself can't handle it anymore so we hire someone to do it.

  8. My vinca has little purple flowers on it right now, too. I love your lilies of the valley. They are doing better than mine. Only ONE bloomed this year. Kathy (in Ozarks) told me they are poisonous to animals. Your garden is doing SO much better than mine.

    1. Lily of the valley is poisonous if ingested. I have a feeling that animals would instinctively know not to nibble.

    1. Ink's garden needs to be weeded and planted with morning glories. I just don't know if it's still too early
