How Does Your Garden Grow?

The bunny came to visit.

Mama Cardinal left the nest. I think her babies have hatched though because of the position of the nest, I can't see into it. Papa Cardinal comes to the nest several times a day. He's too quick to catch with a camera, but I did see him feeding Mama some seeds.

Some tulips add a pop of color to the daffodils

A few leaves have sprouted on the hydrangea. If it ever stops raining, I can trim back the dead stalks.

Another daffodil. We have lots because the bunnies and chipmunks don't like daffodil bulbs. The do love  tulip bulbs which is why there are only a couple of tulips in the garden.

Grape hyacinths peeking through some day lilies. The hyacinths must have grown wild or had help from animal friends as I never planted them in this area.

The leaves on the Japanese maple popped.

A daffodil with an orange center.

Some purple and white violets

On the backside of Ink's garden, the lily of the valley make an appearance. I thought these didn't survive transplanting from Red's garden or the Winter as last week, not a single shoot was poking up through the ground.

Trees in the woods starting to leaf

Two little dandelions. In years past, the backyard would be carpeted with dandelions. It's been wet and cold most of the Spring. We've only had 7 days of complete sunshine. Maybe wet and cold has put some plants behind schedule.

  1. I wish all my bulbs would coordinate and bloom simultaneously. I love how you have tulips and daffodils together. And the grape hyacinths. Looking good! Hope you don't get too much rain today. Hugs-Erika

    1. The daffodils are a late blooming variety so that's how they bloom as the same time as the tulips

  2. Your spring garden is beautiful. My tulips are history, both my hyacinths and grape hyacinths have been gone for nearly a month. Even my irises are on their last legs (or petals). Looks like you are truly enjoying your garden and I'm sure we'll see more spring goodies as the various gardens materialize.

Yesterday I counted FOUR robins in my yard and saw a baby finch, too. Spring has really caught up in my garden.

    1. Spring is still a bit late this year. Since Spring started, we've only had 7 days or sun or partial sun and temps have been 15 to 20 degrees cooler than normal.

  3. I love your garden statues. Your plant growth looks like mine did a few weeks ago. Deer also don't like Daffodils, so they're one of the few flowering plants I have left. (I had planted Lilies and Tulips but they were eaten by the deer, so now they no longer grow. One year I tried Dahlias: same thing.) Deer, rabbits, etc. also don't like Bleeding Hearts. We've had about a week of overcast and off and on rain here in CT. I think tomorrow is supposed to be sunshine finally. It looks like trees being fully in leaf is about a week or so behind this year, probably due to the lack of sunshine. And thank you for pointing out my tarot card can be my ticket into the T-gathering this week: I didn't even think of that, but it saves me having to come up with something at the last minute, like I usually do. (Teddy will be featured in some outdoor photos again this week. :-) He had a little mishap this time, which will be part of my T-Day blog post.)

    1. Dad gave us a seedling from the tree in their yard and 30 years later hard to believe how big the Japanese maple has gotten.

  5. Spring! So many flowering plants! I like your gargoyle.

We lived in a house once that had rabbits, and at first I thought it was so cool and got really excited. Then I saw what they did to everything I tried to plant lol Quite frustrating. Now I just have squirrels and chipmunks, and they confine themselves to digging up my potted plants. Such is life lol

I had meant to try tulips and daffodils in pots this spring to see if they'd come back next spring, but I was without a car during that entire period when they were available in the stores. Maybe I'll get bulbs and try it this fall.

    1. With his back issues, Himself can't have a big garden. Himself confines his gardening to pots. This year he bought some sort of a horse trough. Up on saw horses where the bunnies can't reach. Last year, the chipmunks got through the wire, up the sawhorses and enjoyed the cherry tomatoes. :-D Everybody needs a hobby. Dedo according to a legend protects children. I also likes to think he protects our house, his home.
