The Friday Five Good Things

Quill

Five good things that happened this week.

1. I received a Valentine from my Reggiment '17 (year long calligraphy class) tablemate.

2. The Home Depot delivery man kindly carried the 10 bags of salt for the water softener into the garage instead of leaving them in the driveway.

3. The Eldest's next traveling lab tech assignment starting April 3, will be at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston! Hopefully, we'll get to see her a few times.

4. Calli's new trick if I'm sitting to come up behind me, stretch up on her hind legs and pat me with her front paw. She lets me know she wants attention and a cuddle After watching Calli, Quill is doing this, too.

5. Thanks to my Lady for blogging about her experience renewing her license. It made me go look at my license to see that it expires this Summer

How was your week?

  3. Did my comment go through? I kept getting the publishing button for like 15 minutes. If it did, ignore my repeat comment. I mentioned how I wanted to thank you for reminding me about license renewal. I was able to do mine online and am now wondering where my license is. And you must be thrilled the eldest is going to be at Deaconess. Yu must be happy you'll be able to see her more often-hopefully. Rain for you today also? Better than snow, but I bet winter isn't done yet, even if I am done with it.

    1. Yup, your comment went through. I'm excited the Eldest will be in Boston for at least 13 weeks. Rain for today and windy, a good day to art or take a nap, or both!

  4. Sounds like you had a good week! Calli and Quill are just too sweet! I love the cute little unique things that cats do - and they do seem to copy cat one another. My kitties sure do.

I was only in Boston ONCE and would love to go back for another visit. Hope you get to see your eldest while she is there.

You are welcome for the reminder! Have a great weekend!

    1. She'll be for 13 weeks so hopefully, they won't have her working every weekend

  5. I love the scheduled reminders to count our blessings. I get so tired of all of my whining...

My cats have been chasing each other. I'm hoping they're playing, but boy do they sound annoyed with each other!

    1. Calli and Quill do that, too. Quill likes to play rough, but sometimes Calli doesn't. Occasionally, I have to break them up

  8. I'm back. I was in the process of writing a long message and somehow I deleted the entire thing. NOT fun.

First, I went to Lady's blog and read her tale of woe about the DMV. In my state, your DL is due no later than your birthday. However, due to Covid restrictions, in 2020, the DMV shut down from late March through late May. My new DL reads June, 2020, the soonest I could get in, since they only took a certain number each day. I remember you had to have an appointment and show up 10 minutes early. Only three customers in the building at a time. Covid lockdown seems SO long ago, even though I still wear a mask when I go out.

    1. In MA, the license expires on your birthday. However, the RMV no longer sends a reminder the month before

  9. I wasn't going to take any more chances of losing another post, so I wanted to tell you I am sure you will be glad the eldest is moving closer, at least for awhile.

I saw a senate hearing yesterday on doctors or maybe administrators asking for more qualified traveling lab techs, nurses, mammogram experts, etc. Apparently there is a real need for these responders because qualified people who live in the town/city requesting aid don't get enough people to answer the call. They are also hoping to get qualified immigrants to take up the slack.

Sounds like you had a great week and not once did you share how many times you ate out (grin).

    1. It will be nice to have her closer for her 13 week contract which could get extended. I'm hoping the next contract will be someplace in New England.

Health care workers have always been in demand. Hospitals like the traveling workers because they don't have to pay benefits like health care, vacation, sick time. The agencies that represent the traveling health care workers pay 2 to 3 times what they would be paid if they worked for a hospital. They also pay health insurance, put the travelers up at a hotel, pay travel expenses, food expenses

    2. That means she can put a tidy nest egg away since she gets all those perks.
