Massachusetts has an official ode titled Ode to Massachusetts , words and music by Joseph Falzone. The ode was designated in 2000.
"Ode to Massachusetts"
Freedom, Freedom, Freedom
From the Freedom Trail in Boston
To the dome on Beacon Hill
To Framingham and Worcestor
And Springfield if you will
From Concord on to Lexington
No matter where you roam
There's a not so common Commonwealth
It's the place that I call home
You are the heart of New England
Old Ironsides and Bunker Hill
Where JFK once paved the way
To the day the world stood still
Your one by land and two by sea
Helped set our country free
You can't get better Massachusetts
You'll always be sweet home to me.
No, you can't get better Massachusetts
You'll always be sweet home to me.
Freedom, Freedom, Freedom
I shudder to think what my state song could be......🤣🤣🤣

DeleteLovely Anthem or ode, have a great weekend, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good weekend, too
DeleteNH's state song is called Old New Hampshire. I love the play on words at the beginning-Old New. I don't know the actual words but I like to make up verses. When the hear the old BeeGees tune called Massachusetts I always thing of my old home too. In fact I was dreaming about it last night and my mom was in it. OK, enough about me. (probably more than enough). Interesting state song. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the sunshine today.
ReplyDeletePerfect timing to dream or get a message from your mother. We just celebrated Imbolc (Groundhog Day, Candlemas) so the veil between the worlds was thin.
DeleteThis sure gave me goosebumps. Very well done.
ReplyDeleteSomeone did a nice job with the video as well as the song
DeleteI remember visiting so many of those places when I went to Boston, Cambridge, and smaller towns around the state. Loved the candy hearts which is really appropriate for Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteHope the video brought back happy memories of your time here
DeleteWe don't have an ode, but we do have The Tennessee Waltz and Rocky Top... We have bunches of official songs, but most are songs not even the people in TN have ever heard of.
ReplyDeleteI doubt many of us in MA have heard of the state songs, odes, etc.
