Murky sun through the haze and smoke of the Canadian wildfires
the light from the sky was very disconcerting (to me)
Tom Turkey 1
Tom Turkey 2. We've seen herds of females with their young roam through the yard, but have never seen any males. These dudes were big.
Quill was very interested
Queen Anne's Lace
Wood Aster that looks like a little daisy
The smoke cleared later in the week. Rain moved in, and on the way out to dinner with friends, a beautiful rainbow (through the car's dirty windshield)
Tiny Bunny. One from Clover's line.
Himself planted some sunflowers
The mountain laurel made a comeback this year.
No blight this year.
How does you garden grow?
One day I want to have a turkey like it is in movies!
ReplyDeleteQuill sure steals the show 😻
My poppies seem to grow and Ingo made a cake from some of my (my!!) wood-strawberries (he does not understand what they mean to me. I eat them plain and think of my Mum).
That is such a wonderful memory of your mutti
DeleteI don't think I've ever seen mountain laurel! It's quite lovely!
ReplyDeleteThey are really beautiful. When we first moved there, they just lined the woods on the street. They start out pink and then fade to white
DeleteI love mountain laurel. Out behind where I grew up there was a lot of it. At this time of year it was so pretty. You're lucky to have the bush. Glad the smoke cleared out too. It doesn't look like you'd want to be out breathing a lot of it. Enjoy this beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteWe're enjoying the sunroom after a week of cold and rain
DeleteYour smoky place really is disconcerting I hope you are now mostly rid of the smoke since the fires are starting to be contained.
ReplyDeleteWild turkeys are amazing. People hunted them in southeast KS because they were overtaking everything.
Lovely flowers. The squirrels dug up and ate all my sunflower seeds before they could take root! Hope himself has better luck.
The smoke will be backing in today. Rain tomorrow night is supposed to finally wash it out
DeleteForgot to mention that I agree with Iris. Quill steals the show.
ReplyDeleteWhen does your daughter arrive?
She arrived late Friday night. So good to have all my babies under the same roof.
DeleteTurkeys!!! Cool! I hope my patio garden survives my absence. If we can just make it til July... Blogger isn't recognizing me on my phone. -Nita
ReplyDeleteI have that issue, too, on phone and iPad
DeleteQuill is showing a lot of interest in that turkey! Valerie
ReplyDeleteFrom that far away the turkey looked like his size 😺
DeleteLooks like Quill enjoyed the scenery. Lovely flowers!
ReplyDeleteYes, it was pretty bad in the air mid-week here as well. Never seen anything like it! Finally clearing up.
Quill loves looking out the windows and watching whatever is on CAT-TV
