Monet and Me

Welp, my electromagnetic field finally overwhelmed the microwave. We went out and bought a new one. The new microwave must have some sort of a force field because my electromagnetic field has no effect on it.

You may remember a a couple of weeks ago, when I opened the door to the microwave, the turntable would rotate.  The new microwave must be shielded because the turntable doesn't turn when I open the door. Monet no longer gets a teacup ride.

Monet and I played with some of the features of the new Chef Mike. We boiled a cup of water, used the reheat function to reheat a plate of food, played with the time feature (it has a cute little song when the countdown is done), defrosted chicken, cooked bacon, tried to soft boil an egg (no shell, I was close and it needed a little more time but I got impatient and gave it a lot more time so hard boiled. Still good.)

No Monets were harmed in the making of this post.

  2. A fun and quirky post! Loved the humor around electromagnetic fields and “Chef Mike.” The experiments with the new microwave were amusing, especially the egg mishap. Glad Monet’s teacup rides are safe now!

    1. If the microwave came in Cobalt Blue, Royal Blue, or Sapphire, I'd buy it in a heartbeat no matter the features

  7. thecontemplativecat here. I recall microwaves when they were available in 1973. They were amazing! even more amazing now, true, but electromagnetic fields? My m-wave now has bells and whistles, too.

    1. Back in the late 70s, I had a temp. job at Prime Computer. They had just gotten a microwave for the breakroom. The big attraction in the afternoon was to go down to the breakroom and watch someone try to microwave popcorn. There were bets on when the fire department would arrive

  8. Heh. (Continue to) Have fun with your new microwave. We could probably do away with our oven and have 2 microwaves in our house:)
Enjoy the remains of the holiday.

    1. I used to have 2 microwaves. The one over the oven died a long time ago. I didn't want to spend the money for a new one plus install so now it's another cabinet. 2 microwaves came in handy when I used to host holy days of obligation (family get togethers)

  9. I have two microwaves. One for crafts in the basement and one for cooking. I also have had a microwave sinlce1973. Back then, it cost about $400.00 and didn't even have a turntable. But I learned to cook everything in the microwave and prefer it over cooking on the stove or in the oven.

    1. The only thing I don't cook in the micro is meat. It just doesn't brown. I know that's not an issue for you.
