I have a project where I need to cut several of the same shape. I don't want to cut them out by hand, and not sure if there's a punch that is in the size I need. I was looking at die cutting machines, and getting so confused about the many options available. And sticker shock at the expense of some of them.
So, I'm looking for some advice from those that use the die cutting machines:
Can they be used to cut multiple images on one sheet of paper?
How big are the sheets of paper you can feed through the machine? I don't want to waste a lot of paper by only being able to cut one image per sheet.
Manual?
Computerized?
Are the dies from different manufacturers interchangeable?
Do you have to use the preset dies? Can you cut your own shapes?
Does the machine only cut? Can it emboss?
Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
I have a big shot, which has quite a good size. You can't make your own dies. You can cut through several thicknesses of paper at one go. The computer aided ones offer more scope, but I haven't got one! You can use dies from lots of manufacturers. Hope you find what you want. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteCan you cut multiple images from one sheet of paper or can you only cut one per piece?

DeleteI have just bought the Sizzix Big Shot which fits my needs 😁. It is a manual machine not computerised and has a maximum cutting width of 22.5 cm (8.875 inches) and a maximum cutting depth of 1.6 cm (0.625 inches). You can get a bigger machine that cuts A4 size too called a Big Shot Plus. You can use it for die cutting or embossing using it the various plates which generally come with the machine. You can buy preset dies and embossing folders which are sold separately and the manufacturers are interchangeable. I can cut multiple images with one die by layering the paper, I have found my machine will cut about three layers depending on the thickness of the paper. You can also cut more than one shape from the paper by spacing out the dies. Hope this helps 😁. We have lots of snow falling at the moment here. Have a great day! 😊
