Fun Tributes to Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania road trip took us through the city of Scranton.

A favorite, audience participation number at Harry Chapin concerts. 30,000 Pounds of Bananas

Just North of the city of Wilkes-Barre where we spent our first night, city officials were on the watch as the Susquehanna River was in danger of causing major flooding in the area. The river had frozen, but a recent thaw had caused ice flows and a fast melt so the waters of the river were rising.

Not a fun situation, but Himself told me about a classic Abbot and Costello routine. The Susquehanna Hat Company.

  1. I did like relistening to that Harry Chapin song. It's a great one for sure. Sad ending to the game but the better playing team did win. But not an embarrassment for sure, so the hubby did not need to bake cookies. Just as well, who needed the calories? Happy Monday. Hugs-Erika

    1. Yup, Himself said it was a good game. If Hubby bakes and you do not want the cookies, send 'em down here :-D

  3. Somehow I can't get into the slapstick humor of Abbot and Costello. But I promise not to mention the game, since your husband thought it was good. Have a super day, CJ.

    1. Yeah, this routine wasn't as funny or as clever as their Who's On First routine.

Himself said it was a good game. Both teams played well. The Eagles played better.

    1. Nope, but it is a classic vaudeville routine and we did cross the Susquehanna River.

  5. Thank you for this post, CJ. PA has much history and pretty interesting at that.

BTW, I love the pic you added of Ink (Kitten on the keys). SO adorable!

    1. When The Brother graduated boot camp at Fort Dix, New Jersey, my dad took us to Philadelphia to see the Liberty Bell. I hope to be able to explore Western PA when we go to visit The Eldest.

The Eldest found the kitten on the keys pic in an album she had. I thought it made a perfect Valentine picture as you can see a Valentine card on the piano.

    1. There was some flooding, but I didn't hear that it got worse the rest of the week I was in PA
