T Stands for Fireworks

For the past several years, The Brother has invited us to his house to watch the fireworks from Cristoforo Colombo Park in the city of Worcester. This year, the show was scheduled for Monday, 2. July.

We started with an appetizer. Crackers, cheese, blue tortilla chips and pumpkin salsa. Himself had a Coke, and I had iced tea with mint.

My SIL had this little succulent in a cute terra cotta teacup. Perfect for T Day.

It was the fourth day of an official heatwave (3 consecutive days of temperatures in the 90s) and too hot to cook. We had a light supper of cold cut sandwiches, macaroni salad, tossed salad, sweet pickles, and fruit salad. My sandwich was roast beef and mustard. I don't like cheese.

I forgot to take a picture of dessert. Assorted star and black and white cookies and ice cream cake.

The Brother's house is on a hill in an adjacent town. From his back deck we can look down on the city. We can see and hear the fireworks. All the fun without the crowds and hassle of finding parking in the city.

Boom

Whistle

Boom! This one looks like a sand dollar or a morning glory.

Even though we were in a screened enclosure, the mosquitoes were really biting. After the show was over, we moved into the kitchen until it was time for Himself and I to make tracks.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

  7. Very cool! I used to live in a third floor apartment and every year there was a Community Days event held the week of the Fourth of July. My mom and I would avoid the traffic and crowds by sitting on my fire escape and enjoying the show from there! Ahh, the good old days! LOL!

The food looks delicious! Glad you had a good time!

  10. Gosh, that was a big spread of appetizers, and the meal looked great, too. Had to laugh at "90s." I'd be dancing for joy IF my temps were only in the 90s. Today through Sunday night, we are under a heat advisory where heat indices reach or are above 110 F. Today's real high is to be 102 F and a heat index of 114 F. 90 would be downright chilly (grin).

That teacup with the succulent is perfect for T day. I suspect it would be happy you invited it to T.

What a perfect way to see the fireworks. All the fun, none of the hassles. When I did my internship in Omaha, NE, I lived downtown near the ball stadium. My 3rd floor walk up kept me in shape, and sitting on the deck watching fireworks was always a thrill. I think that one looks like a sea shell, too. That one is new to me.

Thanks for joining us for T for this 4th of July celebration and T Tuesday.

    1. We rarely get temps to 3 digits and if we do, that kind of heat/humidity doesn’t last more than a day or two

  15. The food looks delicious and the perfect picnic for the fourth. We didn't watch fireworks this year as it is usually too late for the children. But I hate bugs so perhaps it was a good thing.
    Happy Tea Day,
